Matriarchies and despotates! It's that time again, time for the World Bowl, NationStates' premier international gridiron/American football/gridball competition, now in its 20th (well, if you want to get picky, 21st) edition!
Okay, down to business. There's a few things that need to be covered.
1) Sign-Ups
To sign-up, simply post in this thread stating your intention to compete, and I'll add you to the sign-up list. Pretty simple, right?
In regards to puppets, if you wish to sign a puppet up for the World Bowl, please indicate in the puppet's entry-post that it is a puppet, and which master/main-nation it is a puppet of. After that, please post from the master/main-nation confirming that the puppet does, in fact, belong to you. I will add them to the sign-up lists, indicating that they are a puppet. In the event of numbers conflicts, puppets have lowest priority for being booted to make room for master/main nations who wish to sign up past whatever number threshold is set by the host.
Please note whether or not you are a first-time participant. First-time participants are eligible to compete in the Baptism of Iron (similar to the World Cup's Baptism of Fire). If a minimum of sixteen first-time main nations participate, we will also accept hosting bids for the Baptism of Iron.
I am not going to set a cutoff, either a date or a number. That will be at the discretion of whoever is selected as our host.
2) Host Bids
As those already familiar with the competition know, we need a host for this shin-dig. How do we get that host? Those interested submit hosting bids. A good hosting bid should contain scorination information, proposed format of the competition, maybe some IC background information, and a little bit of writing on the subject of why you should be host (IC and OoC info, for preference). You can write host bids from an OoC or IC voice; that is your choice. Once the deadline for hosting bids to be submitted has passed, we will vote on who will host World Bowl XX.
I am setting the deadline for hosting bids at March 15th, 2013, at approximately 5:00pm Central Standard Time (US & Canada). Depending on how many bids we have submitted by that point, the deadline may or may not be flexible; if we have a large number of bids, it will likely be a hard deadline. If we're short on bids, you may be able to squeak in a little late. Preferably, don't do that, though. We will also accept tentative Baptism of Iron hosting bids, which will be found if there is a willing host and a minimum of sixteen first-time participant main nations.
And with that, a new World Bowl cycle begins! What will we see? Will the Allamunnic States win its fourth championship (/shamelessselfadvertisement)? Will some team that's waited patiently see their day? Will somebody new storm to the championship?
There's only one way to find out. Let's get this thing rolling.
