CoDN United Nations OOC Thread

RP Administrator Ascoobis here and we're establishing a UN for our RP'verse. It will prevent war from going bananas.

For starters, since we're a multipolar world, it will be a unicameral organization. We will discuss the past of the organization how it fits into our world. A topic to get started on should be the lore of past resolutions and your nation's relationship with the UN(The background will have to be discussed.) after agreeing on details the charter. Here is the present charter. Discuss? I guess this will be one chapter in piecing together a proper history for our RP world.

Once the charter and the history behind it is established and up to date, this thread will serve as an OOC Thread to plan out events to happen in the future IC Thread for our UN(We'll eventually get there.).

Here are some critiques:

Remove Section 2 of Article 2 or define what "acts of aggression" are.

Remove or rewrite Section 2 of Article 2.

Remove Section 3 of Chapter 2, as it is unnecessarily burdensome and unrealistic.

Section 1 of Chapter 5 needs a major rewrite.

It seems that the current U.N. legislation has proved itself to be unpopular, so I'm preparing a change.

Rather than have a conventional UN in which every nation has a single representative and vote, it will be based on existing alliances. In which every alliance will have a single vote on topics and the alliance's vote on a topic will be decided on how the vote is split between its members.

For example, take the Pacific Rim Alliance.

It has three members, so each member has 1/3 of the deciding vote for their alliance.

If Paglaum and Dragomerian Islands vote in favor of a certain issue and Peacockia against than the PRA vote will default to be in favor of the said issue.

Sounds simple, yes? Thoughts?

So with the banjection of Drago, and the formation of the EDP, should we kick the dust up again and discuss the way this would work? I feel as though we could set up a monthly UN meeting to discuss world politics and conflicts through a forum thread.

I will wait for someone else to propose how it should be organized, i'm not a very informative person when it comes to these kind of things. So far i'm just proposing arranged dates for UN meetings where we meet together IC to discuss world politics.
