CoDN Regional RP History Discussion [OOC, Closed]

Hello! If you are reading this AND role-play in The Coalition of Democratic Nations, you may post here.

Hello! I have organized this thread with our RP Coordinator, Dragomerian Islands, to aid in the formation of regional history. The way that this will work is that one is to post the history of their nation and/or the history of their geographical area until the formation of their nation. These histories will be left on this thread for review, constructive criticisms, and will be topics of discussion in this thread. The goal of this comparison and review would be to intertwine them into a common history that will be shared in a single factbook.

As we are an alternate Earth RP region, I would like to begin the discussion with asking what year or date would be best to diverge from RL Earth history and would be the beginning of our own. An example would be 476 A.D.(The fall of the Western Roman Empire).

I like the idea of this. Now a good question for m is who did my nation rebel from? It went from Scandinavia, to Germany to who knows who.

You could ask France, Taralus, or Oakwall.

Hmm, Taralus would be a tough one.....

France is a maybe, and Oakwall is a strong contender.

Canada rebelled against someone, and formed a local dictatorship. Perhaps, despite the ideological differences, Canada and Washinton could have worked in tandem? Washinton would form a republic, and Canada would form a dictatorship, but relations would be merely indifferent after the revolt.

Maybe after a civil war your nation broke away?

Taran-like people(The Vikings) did make it to Newfoundland. It could be possible.....

Cerma's founder would most likely be the same colonizer as well.

A war with Kestvala could be that civil war you wanted. :)

I mean by actually breaking away.

But in terms of a civil war, that sounds great! Just when would it have taken place.

To give Canada time to evolve, I'd say sometime around the RL U.S. Civil War. It will make equipping and photographic evidence easier to obtain.

That's true! I can discuss it with him.

Now, on a starting date, we are going to begin our history at the fall of the Roman Empire, right?

I think it would be a good date to deviate, at least at the earliest. Giving a nation at least a thousand years to evolve while having some nations deviate much later.

How about my nation was originally ten colonies of Spain before they would eventually declare Independence, maybe even Ascoobis would aid the colonists in their Revolution.

UNfortunately Spain is no longer on the map. We'll have to find another colonial ancestor.

Ascoobian help would depend on the date of independence and the relations to the colony's owner.

It would most likely be the same nation that colonized us both.
