All was well before the drought. Before the crop shortages forced us to change. Before meat became the only source of food. Now, there is only war. Eat or be eaten. That is the way of the world. That is how we survive.
Welcome to Tooth and Tail! This is an RP based on the video game Tooth and Tail. The setting is a country called Vyeshal populated by anthropomorphic animals(like the Redwall books) in the late 19th century. Droughts and crop shortages have forced the animals to turn to eating meat. The problem is who gets eaten.
At first, the aristocratic leaders of society known as "the Civilized" developed a solution. The lottery system left the decision of who was eaten up to random chance. Over time, it became clear that the Civilized were using the Lottery as a way to get rid of their enemies. This led to the rise of the Revolution and the beginning of the War for Meat.
Now, four factions are engaged in open war. Because the factions are stretched thin, many of their troops are underequipped and undertrained, leading to the rise of the militia. The Civilized aristocrats vie to maintain the status quo and defeat the rebels. The secret police known as the K.S.R joined the war to quell the Revolution, but now fight to end the war at all costs. The Commonfolk champion a voting system to determine who lives and who becomes food. And last but not least, the Longcoats advocate a merit-based system. The Longcoats and the Commonfolk will fight together, but are not official allies. The Civilized are hated by all except the K.S.R, who tolerate them to bring a swift end to the war.

The Longcoats came about under the direction of the mouse Bellafide. After his son was chosen in the Lottery, Bellafide decided a change was in order. Finding that many animals shared his views, he organized the Longcoats with one simple goal, destroy the Civilized. Along the way, Bellafide developed the Merit System as a way to replace the corruption of the Civilized. The Longcoats are also to blame for igniting the war in the first place. In what has become known as the Bonepit Riots, a contingent of Longcoat soldiers led by Bellafide snuck into the capital of Vyeshal City via the Bonepits. Attacking a force of Civilized soldiers, they caused many casualties before retreating through the Bonepits. This act inspired the Commonfolk to revolt and began the Revolution.

Unit Roster
None of this will make sense until you have read about all of the units through the above link, or by reading about a specific faction's units below. This list shows the primary forces of each faction, but some are used by multiple factions. However, just because a unit is not listed for a specific faction does not mean they are not used, it just means they are not very numerous in that faction's army. For player-created factions, use the units that fit your strategy most.
