The Geopolitical Review
"Balgariia,the Balkans and the interests of the Great powers"-a geopolitical review of the situation on the Balkans ,regarding our nation.

-Balgariia always has been on a key strategic location,and thus,a needed asset for the great powers,both western and eastern,to maintain their power in the region.Many times Balgariia was called "the gate of Europe"- it is the shortest road towards the middle east,and the safest one.And that road is mainly on the wishlist of the western powers...

But after our revolt against the anarcho-capitalist regime(Fun fact-which was a western puppet)things changed dramatically- the west lost this strategic point,and thereby,lost influence on the Balkans.And the possibility of our nation to turn pro -Eastern made them mad-we may be a key road for supplying Russia-backed Serbia and a good mainstay for war against the Pro-Western countries in the region.We are "between the hammer and the anvil",and they will not stop untill someone takes control over Balgariia.

The bulgarian geopolitical expert,and a geopolitical advisor in the President's office ,Danko Tsvetkov,describes our situation as:
"-The bear and the eagle fight for the wounded lion..." But how will they try to regain control over our nation?

A typical "signature" tactic of the great powers is to use "puppet" states to do the dirty work,while they keep watching,and when everything is set,to claim the prize...

The West has the following allies :

- Turkey(the most anti-Balgariian country in the region,will cnfront us even without the West ,because it chases its own geopolitical goals ,with the final goal of brcaming a major world player)
-Greece(Loyal NATO and EU member,ally of the US)
-Macedonia(A puppet state of the US,only able to serve as "casus belli")
-Romania(another major Balgariian enemy,alsi EU and NATO member,interested in conquering Balgariian land)

...while Russia has an ally Serbia(Mostly Anti-Balgariian,also interested in conquering Balgariian land).

As we see,The US has the most allies in the region,compensating its location,and Russia,which is just a sea away,has only one ally,but its not interested in becoming an "agressor",because this will trigger more conflicts,even outside the Balkans,and will worsen its reputation.The west has a whole team against us and can win even without intervention.So this leads to the c onclusion that the West is the bigger threat for us at this time.

The other tactics used would be:

1)-Implementing agents inside of our government(They had tried 2 times,both failed)
2)-Using "The Belarussian method"(Trying to take down our goverment by creating and supporting an opposition inside the country,and creating a "government in exile" in order to regain control over our country;
3)-Using diplomatic pressure(Sanctions,threats,provocations,propaganda)

While the first and the second paths are already cut by our counter-intelligence,the third and "the signature" paths remain open.We cannot stop them to keep their verbal propaganda campaign against us,so we have the "military" threat as most urgent.

But in order to give a proper response we need to understand the situation around us:The Turkish army is the 2nd largest army in Nato(after the US itself).The hellenic army is the 2nd largest from our neighbours,3rd is the romanian army.And Macedonia poses no threat due to its small and heavily outdated military and the lack of air component.

The Turkish army is the most modern,maintaining a good military industry, more than 90% modernized tech.It has the largest fleet of stealth aircraft(32 F-35).The only country to develop a domestic fighter,the TF-X,which should enter service in mid-2026)
The Hellenic army is also a modern,well equipped army.
It is the second country on the Balkans to operate the F-35(8 aircraft +16 on order).
The Romanian army is a bit outdated,but capable army.It is running a modernization program,and by 2023 will become the third operator of the F-35 in the region(first 8 F-35s will arrive in 2023 and 8 in 2024)

Our army has ~327,000 personnel and is the second largest in the region.We have an outdated army,which we modernize,and the complete absence of stealth aircraft.But we have one thing,that no one has-a ballistic missile force that has the ability for deep strike missions.All of the above nations mainly use the Patriot missile system,proven to be inefficient against ballistic targets,and the forst deliveries of the advanced THAAD to Turkey shall arrive in late 2024.Romania is still negotiating for procurement of the system,Greece has denied the purchase of THAAD.So we have the upper hand in missiles,for now.

But what we can do about that?The answer is-deter.
Balgariia is not ready for a war,while our neighbours are.The only way to make them "think twice"-is to build an enough strong army to stop them fro their decision. And to directly deter this we must acquire technologies that are equivalent of what they have.We already gained license to produce 20% of all of the needed equipment,while the biggest gap is the production of fixed-wing aircraft,and stealthy ones.The other is the small fleet.We should look to fix these gaps as fast as we could in order to deter our enemies from attacking us.Stealth aircraft have deep strike capabilities,and this will be a strategic card against them.After acheiving military dominance in the region,we will have enough power to deter the aggressors in the region and keep the "signature" plan of the West out.
