Postby Dystopian Polymarchy » Wed May 20, 2009 6:20 pm

Should A Country Need To Have An Anti Ballistic Missile System

A GRID SYSTEM of Anti Ballsitic Missiles would benefit all nations. These defences are a key part of a sucessful defense and destruction of an ICBM, Nuke, Bio- Missiles, or chemical Missiles.

Terms

1. A nation can stockpile an ABM for Defensive Purposes ONLY.
2. A nation can have an automated grid and a manaul grid
3. A nation DOES NOT have the right to use ABMs for offensive purposes
4. A nation must have at least 15 ABMs stored for emergencies.

Definitions

ABM- Anti Ballsitic Missile
Grid System- a system in which a missile can be tracked using RADAR and a Cartesian Plain
ICBM- Inter Continental Ballistic Missile
Biological Weapons Spokeperson

Um, ABMs are purely DEFENSIVE weapons. ABMs cannot be Offensive.

What if a nation can't afford 15 ABMs? Or what about the nations that refuse to have a military? Both are common, and are not addressed by your proposal.

And some nations' idea of advanced military technology is a pointed stick, a Martini-Henry or an aeroplane with an enclosed canopy. Others are galatic star empires with, I don't know, laser guided cheesinators or some such. Hell, the only way Cobdenia could stop a ballistic missile attack (if it were possible, though luckily our time vortex prevents such) would be to send a squadron of zeppelins to get in the way...

Is this a proposal to require that all WA nations have an anti-ballistic missile system? Is it a proposal to create a WA ABM defense grid? A proposal to make us rename one of our plateaus the Cartesian Plain? Apart from the other objections, it's hard to say what this proposal actually would do.

While we believe it is just good sense for a nation to have some sort of ABM system in place, we are dismayed that it should be mandatory throughout the WA. We have a problem with anything dictated to us as being mandatory. We could therefore not support this proposal.

I share everybody else's opinion here, I think. Anti-Ballistic Missiles systems are a weapon that any modern nation should have. That being said, we admit that this is our own response to a global stimulation of occassional violence. Some nations have reached such enlightenment as to become pacifists or, at the very least, to not support a military.

While I think this is to their own detrement, I do not see why it is our responsibility to 'save them from themselves,' or globally mandate means for war, defensive or not.

I'm against this proposal. If I haven't said anything unique it's because I thought the author should hear the same thing at least once more.

If a nation wants to let itself get blown up, it's really not our business. And unless the author's government plans to pay for an ABM system for all the nations that can't afford it or don't want to pay for it, no thanks.

Bahgum shall stay neutral on this vote, as we really do not have any interest in the so-called deterrent of other nations. However, we would advise the proposer that there are other deterrents beyond the outdated and imprecise use of missiles armed with nuclear/biological and chemical agents. Nations possessing other technologies may vote for or against this simply to cause issues to those who do still cling to these weapons.

For example, it is well known that Bahgum maintains at all times a security squad of Mothers in Law, as it's ultimate deterrent, in a state of ultra alertness (unfortunately there is no other alertness level for a mother in law). This horrifying weapon can reduce a country to a gibberring state of inaction simply through the overwhleming capacity of a Bahgumian mother in law to interfere at all levels.
