To: All World Assembly ("WA") Nations
From: The United States of Alsted ("TUSA"), WA Delegate (WAD), Europe
Re: Retirement Announcement
Date: February 8, 2011
735 days ago, TUSA assumed Europe's delegacy from a great and proud nation, Gallantaria - the all-time European seat-holder with 961 days in office. Since then, TUSA has held that position for 17628 out of the possible 17640 hours. In that time, TUSA served as chief (and, mostly, only) recruiter, endeavored to follow the region's long-held doctrine of neutral engagement (including abstaining from all Security Council measures), and advanced Europe's interests to form new achievements.
Under TUSA's leadership, Europe:
-Sent over a thousand personalized recruiting telegrams
-Grew from 313 nations to a high point of 810 nations (now 577 nations)
-Reassumed its place as the largest player-created region in late 2009 (now the fifth-largest player-created region)
-Became the strongest voice in the WA (now the second-strongest voice)
With this voice, TUSA used its voting power to advance resolutions addressing:
-Issues unaddressable by one nation (e.g.: anti-competitive business practices and human trafficking)
-Rights-based issues (e.g.: suffrage, free/fair elections, due process, anti-slavery, self-determination, and body inviolability issues)
-Fair (vs. "free") trade issues
-Arts and historical-site protection issues (i.e.: those areas that have intrinsic value and should be protected, even if a more market-based society doesn't have any incentive to make it happen)
TUSA used its voting might to systematically employ early vote stacking to encourage preferred voting behavior and paired this strategy to its beliefs, driving the passage of 81 General Assembly resolutions that eventually became "law."
That said, TUSA believes two years in the delegacy seat is more than enough for any one nation and is hereby announcing its retirement from the same - effective immediately. In taking this action, TUSA:
-Will not leave Europe
-Will not resign from the World Assembly
-Will not endorse a successor
-Will stop seeking endorsements at the rate necessary to retain the position
-Looks forward to staying an active participant in the region and WA affairs
TUSA is humbled by its supporters support over these past two years and wishes them all (past, present, internal, and external) the deepest appreciation for their encouragement over that timeframe. God bless you, and may God continue to bless Europe!

OOC II: On a more personal note to all, thanks so much for the great debates over the past two years. I frankly no longer have time to attend to the duties of the position and look forward to someone with that time taking Europe to even greater heights. Cheers.
OOC II: If this needs to be moved somewhere else, please move it there.
