Postby Bajuia » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:05 pm

Hereby: All nations must properly destroy, store or recycle refuse
Rights: Each nation has a right as to decide how to accomplish the disposal of refuse as long as it keeps to the above guidelines
1. Every nation that uses nuclear material must properly store spent radioactive material in such a way that the soil is not contaminated.
2. Nations must employ a recycling program for reusable materials such as plastics, metals and wood
3. If a nation wishes to use a incinerator it must be built away from residential areas
4. Nations will provide money to companies who handle and turn recycled products back into reusable items
5. Any nation wishing to use a landfill may only store non-recyclable material their
6. All nations will provide their citizens with information about how recycling helps the environment and their nation
7. Dumping of any items in the ocean that do not break down will not be permitted
8. Every nation will at it's own pace be required to clean up it's entire nation including it's offshore area
9. A taskforce of willing nations will go out and over the course of a number of years remove items that don't break down from international waters.

8. Every nation will at it's own pace be required to clean up it's entire nation including it's offshore area

Fine, but we'll set our pace as 1 square inch per year.
Welcome to 1938.

I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult. But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever.

4. Nations will provide money to companies who handle and turn recycled products back into reusable items

This will present a problem in my country as we use neither money nor have "companies". In fact "companies" were abolished about 700 years ago in our Revolution. Money was abolished 300 years ago with the advent of the labor credit.

5. Any nation wishing to use a landfill may only store non-recyclable material their

In their what? Also non-recyclable materials should be defined. After all one could decide to recycle their spent uranium fission rods (yes some more primitive societies still use nuclear fission) by melting the material down and turning them into ballistic projectiles. Furthermore just about any material can be recycled--Monikians recycle just about everything including Monikian metabolic wastes.

6. All nations will provide their citizens with information about how recycling helps the environment and their nation

Why do citizens need to know anything? We simply have one bucket everything goes into, the refuse vehicle comes by twice a week to pick it up and take it to the waste reprocessing center where it is sorted. The average citizen on Monkiah needs to know nothing other than her (or his) pick up date.

7. Dumping of any items in the ocean that do not break down will not be permitted

I hate to be the one to inform you of this, but not every nation is on a planet with and "ocean" whatever that means.

8. Every nation will at it's own pace be required to clean up it's entire nation including it's offshore area

Not every nation has an "offshore" area. Not to mention not every nation is on a planet either.

9. A taskforce of willing nations will go out and over the course of a number of years remove items that don't break down from international waters.

Nations do not sit on committees nor are they members of the international bureaucracy. Apparently you have not made first contact with the WA Gnome Species.

Hooray. Yet another poorly written and ill-thought out draft wanting to masquerade as "green".

Peddle your piffle elsewhere, please.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

Ms. Harper wishes to question why methods of waste disposal should go beyond the local authority.

"Perhaps Ms. Harper this nation wishes to enforce on the rest of the multiverse their views as to proper waste disposal regardless of the fact that each nation has its own waste disposal needs and technology to deal with those needs. Regardless it is the opinion of the Monikian Delegation that waste disposal matters are best left to the nations to determine for themselves--just as we think the same about most other matters presented before the WA."
