I Have Become up with an Idea Called NationStates Olympics, And i think its a Good Idea.

1. Each Nation will Vote for a Country to Host the Olympics, And Then if That country wins, That country will host it.

2. This will Bring Huge amounts of Money into Local Economies.

3. During the Construction it will Create Thousands of Jobs.

4. Boost Tourism to All Nations, Which will Mean A Boost for Local Economies.

5. This Project will Improve Transport Links, Police forces, And Bring extra Money to Shops.

6. The Olympics is a Spectacular Event and its a Win-Win situation for All in My Opnion.

7. A Number of Sports Will be Played, Football,Tennis,Basketball,Cricket,Athletics,Swimming,Cycling and so Many More to choose from..

So please Consider this Idea a Good idea, For NationStates And for all Nations, Thank You.

Okay, I have filed a GHR regarding this submitted proposal as it is illegal under the GA Rules, as laid out in the stickies.

It is illegal due to a category violation, at minimum. It was submitted under Education & Creativity: Artistic. Per the Rules, here is what that category means:

Artistic is just what you'd expect - government funding for the Arts. No more trying to sneak it in under human rights.

I do not see anything within this proposal's text that would indicate an increase in Arts funding. Sports =/= Arts

Additionally, I could have sworn that "bloggy" proposals (such as this one) were illegal, but I cannot find such a citation in the Rules at this time. No time to search in-depth now, but I can later if there's a call for it.

Correction: won't achieve quorum (and thereby even have a chance to pass) as it will likely be deleted long before that point.

OOC: There is an entire forum dedicated to NS sports, and they have been holding an NS Olympics, among other things, quite fine on their own for years without the WA legislating sports.

No, the WA didn't delete it, a Game Mod deleted it. Probably because of the category violation, but perhaps also because it was metagaming. I'm not going to explain what these violations mean because you can find out by following the Proposal Rules link you were sent in the TG that you received when the proposal was deleted.

This part of NS has special rules about what can and can't be in proposals. Mistakes in a draft proposal don't matter, because they can be corrected. But mistakes in a submitted proposal can't; it has to be deleted. If you submit too many proposals that break the proposal rules, this nation will be expelled from the WA (not the game as a whole, just the WA part of it). Then you'll have to make another of your puppets be your WA nation.

Most people try to avoid that happening by posting a draft of their proposal here, as you did, and not submitting it until they're as sure as they can be that it's legal. More experienced players will tell you when they notice something's illegal. People who like the idea behind a draft sometimes help rewrite it to make it legal.

Your proposal had parts that wanted just one nation to act the way the WA decided. But the game is set up so that WA proposals have to be written to affect all WA members. That means this proposal is never going to make it off the blocks, so I' m locking this thread.
