Kicking punishment in WA DELEGATE main screen

Postby AnNur-LIGHT » Wed Jul 15, 2009 11:18 pm

Is it WA legal that a country be kicked from a region on a Delegate decision? Especially after endorsing many states which would change the current delegate (not on my behalf)?

Yes, it is.

The WA doesn't mandate any restrictions on ejection, though it may still speak out against actions that enough people see as particularly offensive (See: Security Council, Condemnations). The Game Moderators used to have a series of universal rules on ejection years back, but those became untenable to enforce and were replaced by the Influence mechanic.

The Delegacy tends to function as more of a dictatorship than the democracy that it technically is. Unless you're in a region with a founder (in which case the Founder is a dictator) or you're in the Rejected Realms or Lazarus (in which case the Delegate has no power) a regional Delegate's word is law and she may eject anyone that Influence allows unless other players are able to take her on and win. Of course, some Delegates may be accountable to older players with more Influence who have a genuine chance of overthrowing them if they get out of hand, but all this means is that the only real restrictions imposed on Delegates are those applied by others in the region.

What about regions like the one I reside in where the delegate is barred from regional control for security purposes & therefore is reliant on the actions of the founder for such actions.

My opinion:

In the wake of the Macedon crisis, some founders like me, although I am myself acting as both, have been a bit careful about giving out ejection and banning powers to delegates, especially if they have just joined in. Some founders may want to further protect the culture of regions by not giving delegates regional control powers.

In my experience, I've not seen the problems mentioned, but then again, most of the delegates from my home region, were established players who have been in the region a long time and/or known to the regional founder and members. The Delegates have accesss to those powers, but in practice, would only use them if the founder was temporarily not available, and no other solution could be found. Heck, when I was Delegate, I don't believe I ever looked into the regional control toybox.(I still wouldn't know what they looked like, except for the fact that I did found a region).
