More than three hundred million lives swept before what her senses had become. Yet, she was just being born.

Erythrina wrote:Madam, please hear me out. I never said taxes are the cause of illiteracy. What I did say is that they contribute to the problem, wherever they exist.

First of all, I am not a madam. And I did not say that they are the sole cause, either. I doubt that they are in any way related. My argument still stands that this proposal is a solution searching for a problem, and even then it's a backwards solution.

Erythrina wrote:Further, Madam, I've been observing your demeanor on other threads. I will not engage you. Your demeanor is contemptible and despicable. I'd have more pleasure arguing with a dining room table.

Consulting with your dining room table is probably what produced this text. I couldn't care less if you do or don't engage in debate with me. It's your loss, considering I'm one of what -- around maybe ten? -- full-time, active authors in this Assembly.

Whoa, sorry for that. It's just that you sound so very much like My High Lady Vernor when she's got PMS!

Wait... Did I say that too loud? :?

"I'd have to check with my government, which -- although supportive of Free Trade on general principles -- would presumably consult in turn with our own (flourishing!) publishing industry before reaching its decision, before committing my vote on this matter... but would strongly anticipate being able to cast that vote for the proposal if and when it reaches that stage."

As for 2) "e-books", please, please I beg of you. I will NOT include what the fucking definition of a BOOK is. A book is a book is a book, and that's enough.

If people do have privacy concerns accessing libraries open to the public, that did not prevent GA#78 - Universal Library Coalition - from passing. In fact, it has passed twice, as I originally proposed it under the Previous Body That Shall Not Be Named, and then amended it to fit under current GA law before resubmitting.

Again, given the provisions of the ULC proposal, I am uncertain that this proposal is necessary and will not be an unneeded (and questionably legal) regulation of tax rates on international products.

Since the World Assembly Economic Union and the Food Welfare Act both contain(ed) measures regulating and/or reigning in tariffs, duties, etc. You could count the Trade Enhancement Act, but that was a carbon copy of the WAEU.

hnh. well, makes no difference, we still believe this to be a bad idea. very bad. we cannot and will not ever support the WA's insistance on controlling domestic taxation and tariff's, regardless of how many "precedents" may be quoted by some of our more reactionary members.

Whaddya know, Grays Harbor doesn't want the WA to do something.
