The World Assembly Website (dropped)

Postby American Capitalist » Tue Aug 10, 2010 5:59 pm

The World Assembly Website
A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.
Category: Education and Creativity Area of Effect: Cultural Heritage
The World Assembly,

RECOGNIZING the role the internet plays in the global world we live in and the effect that it has had on the political process of many nations;

APPALLED that the WA has not embraced the internet more fully and has instead largely ignored except in a few key instances;

BELIEVING that this need to change for the benefit of citizens globally;

Hereby,

CREATES the official WA website for the following purposes:
• To put passed resolutions on the internet so that citizens can read what affect their nation and controversies regarding the legislation;
• To post how passed legislation is working for them and how much money has been spent by the WA;
• To link to several handy resources that can be used by the citizenry for several unique purposes;
• To post all committee statistics and reports on one website so that member states and their citizens can more easily find the data they need;

REQUIRES that member states put up biographies about their nation, it's national leaders, and WA delegate;

URGES nations to go further in explaining its policies and their effects to its citizens.

Sorry it's short but I wanted to post this idea I'm not exactly sure how to go with this but I feel like this will take off.

Category: Education and Creativity Area of Effect: Educational, would be my guess (although the WAHQ act snuck through with a Political Stability/Mild category).

You'd have to check for duplication with the ULC act, but I'd like to see a WA Website to disseminate all of the data and statistics that we have our committees keep publishing and supposedly publicizing. Committees that have been encharged with the duty to disseminate said statistics could just be provided with their own subsection to the website for their publications, like the bureau that shall not be named.

Some resolutions that have committees publishing data include, GA#87, GA#88, GA#92, GA#104 and *giggle*, the infamously toothless GA#42.

GA#103, on the other hand, was smart enough to make the Database Of Clinical Treatments Under Study (DOCTUS) a subcommittee of the Universal Library Coalition (ULC) and specifies how the data will be circulated.

I added a new subsection similar to the idea you have proposed I feel that I have avoided copying the ULC as this has nothing to do with the posting of documents.

OOC: Shall I add a reference to WA categories? Basically it would read something like this:
REQUIRES that member states put up biographies about their nation, it's national leaders, and WA delegate this should include the Economic strength of a nation along with its Political, and Civil freedom ;

Maybe I should add a group of gnomes to check these biographies for accuracy.

We already have a WA website. Its called the "General Assembly", and for posting information on WA nations, it is called "Factbooks & National Information".

What the WA does not need is more resolutions for the sake of resolutions. So, yeah, great idea, "Lets have a resolution requiring us to have what we already have". Brilliant.

I think this is quite interesting, honoured ambassador: is it a kind of a freedom of information resolution promoting the transparency of just the World Assembly?

What you find interesting, it seems, we find pointless; at least in this case. We cannot find an actual purpose for this beyond the "resolution for resolutions sake" to this.

OOC: That would be illegal for meta-gaming.

We find ourselves in agreement with the honored ambassador from Gray's Harbor.

OOC: I think this would be an excellent RP for people who wanted to take it up. Personally, I find the creation of all the statistics that all these committees are supposed to research dull, but others may want to put in the effort.

Overall we think that a comprehensive WA resource website would be best suited to a potential roleplay rather than simply a resolution. I do not even know if just a website is considered significant enough, even. Sorry to ruin the idea, but I cannot see how a website of their own is worthy of WA consideration at resolution level.

Seeing all the problem with an idea like this we feel it necessary to drop the idea.

Hnh. So obviously then the cure for that would be for us to become yes-lemmings and agree with any old twaddle that is proposed, right?

We are sorry you are offended by our insistance on something being an international issue and not just some social engineering scheme or for us to consider supporting it.

We shall in future endeavour to appraise each issue with an eye to how you yourself support it, the slavishly heap praise upon it regardless of what we believe the negative effect would be. Or not.

I think this is clearly the best option. I encourage you to select it!
