International Court of Arbitration (ICA)

Postby Krsta » Thu Jul 22, 2010 7:09 pm

The Assembled Nations of the World,

DEDICATED to solving international problems and disputes,

NOTING that there are many cases of that kind which sometimes result in a mass bloodbaths,

VEXED that conflicts of that type are a serious threat to global peace and stability

BELIEVING that there is a need for a legal body focused on advising nations how to solve such a disputes or solving them itself by the wisely-composed decisions and judgements,

AUTHORIZING International Court of Arbitration to be the supreme legal body on the universal level,

HEREBY establishes the International Court of Arbitration,

Edits and modifications are needed :)

The South Kirkcaldy delegate rose.

You sound like a nice friend, but since I am 19, it wouldn't really work out well legally.

Plus, I doubt your bisexual, thus making it nigh impossible for us to date.

lol Of course it is not. International Criminal Court is prosecuting war criminals and it is a criminal court, where trials take place. In the court of arbitration a public hearing takes place with judges making decisions on the international disputes. There is absolutely no connection between ICC and ICA, except the fact both are called "courts." However, those are two completely different kinds of courts.

We don't trust WA Gnomes to give us proper directions to the bathroom, let alone negotiate on our behalf. We don't need a WA judicial wing, and we certainly don't need an another ICC like abomination.

Further as non-member nations aren't bound by our laws or decisions and as non-member nations outnumber member nations to a large extent, this court would be toothless at best.

The ICC has the functions covered, honoured ambassador. In fact there is a non-canon roleplay under way.

Erm, the ICC is a criminal court, not a court of general arbitration. There is a significant difference between the two. Anyways, good luck in this endeavor; it's been tried by more senior members than yourself, who have all failed by large margins.

The Rogue Nation of Flibbleites is once again baffled as to why people think the WA needs a judicial system.

It's not a 'judicial system' so much as it is a 'dispute resolving helper'. It still baffles me why it's such a bad thing for the WA to help nations solve disputes.

Because not every nation is all that enamored of the WA sticking their collective nose in where it doesn't belong. CoCR? Fine. Law of the Sea? Good stuff. Bureaucratic WA arbitration of disputes? No thank you.

An argument repeated even when arbitration is voluntary. But I won't go on about that.

Those in favor of this are probally members of a public sector union, old bean. They believe that government and bureacracy can solve everything.

You don't get it. ICA has an authority only if both sides in the conflict or dispute agree to join the public hearings. By that act, both of them agree that they must respect the decision.

We get it. What we also get is that we disagree that a resolution is required for this.
