Security Council = Unjust Resolutions?

Postby East Ying » Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:40 pm

Now, we all know about Condemnations and Commendations in the World Assembly Security Council branch. Now, normally this would be discussed on the floor of the Security Council, but I think it is more appropriate that it be discussed on the floor of the General Assembly due to it's nature.

The issue at hand here is the fact that nations without WA membership are being condemned and/or commended. The problem? They cannot vote on this proposal. Why should it be that nations who are being condemned to the thousands of nations of our World Assembly are not even allowed to defend themselves through the power of voting.

I think this is not in the spirit of justice, democracy or the freedom that the World Assembly aims to protect...

Therefore I have drafted this enactment to prevent the unjust condemnation of nations that were unable to vote at the time of proposal-ish. Please read, post below.

RECOGNIZING that the Security Council, although aiming for a better world through the usage of Condemnations, Commendations and of course Liberations is flawed.

ACKNOWLEDGING that nations without WA membership at the time of proposal of condemnations often cannot vote against the proposal that seeks to condemn them.

RESOLVED the Security Council, by law of this resolution, is prohibited from passing condemnations or commendations against nations without WA membership

OOC. This is illegal, the GA can't write resolutions which attempt to effect the way the game is used, this is called metagaming, which is not allowed by the rules for resolutions, and besides though I personally sympathise with the intention of your resolution (I've always had serious reservations about the SC being able to effect non-member nations) I also think that SC affairs are not the business of the GA. If you want to bring this issue up I suggest you do so in the SC forum.

I knew something had to be wrong with it. Whenever I propose something there's some infraction I'm breaking or something ;)

I'll make sure to bring it up on the floor of the SC.

Sadly, the SC can't do much about it either.

It would probably be an issue better addressed in the Technical forum - as an OOC post. It's a tricky subject as nations could simply resign from the WA should they be nominated for a condemnation, should C&C's of non-WA nations ever be outlawed. And while a given nation may not be a WA nation, every player (unless they have a history of WA rule breaking) is allowed to have one WA nation so they may already have a different nation in the WA.
