[CANCELLED] Armed Forces Reform

Postby Seoun » Tue Jul 06, 2010 2:48 pm

I know that some people don't like the idea, and you may say so. But I do not appreciate the sarcasm and 'smartalec' comments.

I didn't see a way to delete this thread, because I don't know much about the site. If there is a way to delete this, please let me know.

OK, first.........

You need to pick a REAL category, not just make one up...

There is NO "Military Guidelines" category.

The category and strength you selected do not exist.

Further, there is no need to stipulate "punishments" within proposal text as all nations are brought into compliance automatically if they are WA members.

And secondly... It is not the job of the WA to grant permission for a nation to go to war. We find it disturbing that you would propose that all nations must ask "mother-may-I" of the WA before engaging in what is a strictly national perogative.

We will not have our military policy dictated to us by the WA. Period.

What GH said. The WA will not dictate my armed forces or how I fight. I refuse to support this

Unfortunately, we have been forced to give up on "polite" as that rarely garnered the attention our commentaries required to make our point. While our current style of debate here in the GA may be termed as, well, "brusque", it does get our point across for the most part to those who previously would not listen to reason. They do frequently still not listen, but at least they are aware of our objections now. It is a sad state of affairs when one must resort to such tactics in order to make ones voice heard, but this is the GA so we find ourselves conforming to standard debate procedure, no matter how personally distasteful we find it.

1).ESTABLISHES the Armed Forces Security Council (AFSC) to propose other solutions to political squabbles, before a war is definitely begun.

Yes, because our other Security Council is working so well at the moment. I'd have to say that this is boarder lining on a WA Army.

a)Make sure that the AFSC upholds its job to form peaceful relations between nations.

I thought that was the WA's job. Fairly certain I read that on a brochure somewhere...

b)Does NOT give war advice of any sort to aid either side.

Well that's good cause then it would be over the boarder line on the whole WA Army.

2)A "Stateless Government" (Defined as the WA as: 'Any nation, such as an anarchy, in which there is no single or formal state.') Is not required to send its reasons for warfare to AFSC due to the nation as a whole not having an official.

An official what? Furthermore if I declare war on a terrorist organization, the AFSC will regulate my actions but not that of the terrorists?

a)Stateless governments that DO participate in official warfare, for any reason (be it temporary agreements of its people, or another form of formal state) however, MUST send in applications and reasoning for starting a war.

They don't have a government to declare open war, who will be filling out the application....

URGES nations with more dangerous and violent tendencies to reach a more peaceful level.

Here I thought the WA was supposed to urge ALL nations to reach a peaceful level.... who knew?

This appears to be more useless bureaucracy for a problem that doesn't exist...
And the representative for Grays Harbor just killed this draft, so I'll just sit down now.
