Draft Logging Industry Cut

Postby Setta » Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:55 am

I have a proposal that I believe would be very benificial to the WA.

[proposal=]I hereby propose that all the Nations that are affected by the World Assembly cut 20% of the logging industry in their nation. The logging industry must do one or more of the following-
.Be closed down
.Be condemned
.Be destroyed
.Be renovated into park ranger facilities

Cutting the logging industry will help preserve the national forests and parks, and hopefully will give the people a chance to excersise, which will lower obesity.[/proposal]

I would say the title of this thread is misleading, perhaps even an outright lie.

I respectfully disagree. In my mind, this "proposal" (if one could even call it that) is nothing more than a massive pile of fail.

I do not think a single one of the delegates I know would even consider this "proposal" for a second.

What would the ambassador from Setta suggest the roughly 2.1 million USP loggers and logging support staff who would be layed off if this measure should pass do?

I disagree, this would be classified as "A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.", and therefore would like get a least a large voting body to say aye, even without editing.

lets see...

Cutting the logging industry will help preserve the national forests and parks

What makes you think that national parks and forests are even being logged? FAIL

hopefully will give the people a chance to excersise exercize, which will lower obesity

And if they don't live near a national park or forest? What then? I guess there are no gyms, streets, city parks, playgrounds, or home exercize equipment.... right? FAIL

Do you like it?

No, we do not. It puts people out of work to no good purpose. Put 20% of loggers out of work? Seriously? OK, Then what about all the retail outlets who sell to those loggers and their families? Or the companies who make products to stock those stores? Or the stores which sell to the workers in those manufacturing industries who are now out of work? Are we seeing a pattern here? They all get put out of work as well, and to no good purpose. Your proposal is nothing more than an invitation to start a WA wide depression and unemployment crisis, all for no purpose other than "we have to save some tree's". Trees which, by the way, can be REPLANTED. :palm:

EPIC FAIL

We would have mentioned that as well, but quite frankly we were laughing too much about it. I believe one of my secretaries may actually have pulled a muscle she was so laughing so hard about that clause. ;)

The honoured ambassador from Charlotte Ryberg believes that the draft is too radical. What about those who engage in sustainable logging?

Jarred Stevens, East Klent's WA delegate, stands to speak, "This proposal is far too illprepared for even a rough draft, and it is obvious within the text that the author did not fully research for their proposal or put major thougth into it. It is a disgrace. Or in other words, a failed proposal." Stevens sits down.

Lets not forget that such a drastic cut would also effect many other industries as well, such as homebuilding, lumber, flooring, furniture, plywood, paper and many others all in the name of environmental extremeism and 'fighting obesity". I guess that creating an artificial shortage and driving prices up and putting hundreds of thousands of people out of work is considered a good thing, eh?

We think that we can regulate our logging industry just fine without the help of such a pointless proposal.
We suggest that you research your next topic before you come up with another proposal.

You have the right idea for a propsal that could get passed if the wording wasn't so disgustingly horrible. I suggest that you at least put some degree of effort in your writing.
