The Rights and Protections of Workers, Written by Sycorat.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————⁂————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
The World Assembly,
Recognising the importance of workers, and more broadly the working class, in the common affairs of nations worldwide, such as the production of foodstuffs, infrastructure, housing, clothing, et cetera, et cetera,
Hereby seeks to give those workers proper rights, needed benefits, and protections,
Therefore defining:
- "Employees" as anyone working for and/or aiding their employer
- "Servicepeople" as anyone working for and/or aiding someone else who is not their employer
- "Employers" as anyone hiring workers for pay
- "Recipients" as anyone recieving the aid of a Serviceperson
- "Customer" as anyone buying goods or services from a shop or business
- "Business" as any form of commercial activity, and/or any person's regular occupation, profession or trade
- "Workplace" as any place where an Employee, Employer or Serviceperson's Business takes place
Also mandating that:
- Employers must pay their Employees a fair, liveable monetary wage
- Employers must define the areas and dimensions of a Workplace when setting such up
- All Employees have the right to sue their Employer(s) if they are harmed at their Workplace
- All Employees have the right to leave their Workplace if they have a serious suspicion and/or fear of being harmed at such
- All Employers and Recipients are forbidden from using corporal punishment on their Employees or Servicepeople.
- No Customer is allowed to use corporal punishment on Employees of any Workplace
- All Employees are forbidden from using corporal punishment of Customers while at their Workplace
- While Employees have the right to fire an Employee for any given reason, governments and/or administrations must, if legal, provide those fired with severance packages which those fired can apply for until they find a new Business
- It is perfectly legal for Recipients to give a Serviceperson money and/or goods in exchange for that Serviceperson's service or aid while remaining a Recipient and not an Employer.
- Employers and Recipients are forbidden from preventing Employees or Servicepeople from leaving workplaces.
- Employers cannot hire Employees unless they have a Workplace.
- Employers cannot claim to be Recipients, and Recipients cannot claim to be Employers, unless they provide hard proof that either is the other.
This is my first serious proposal, and I'd like your thoughts.
