The problem is you're stuck in 2006 lol. The rules have changed significantly from then. Also, passing resolutions doesn't necessarily mean you would be a good GenSec.

Of the names you've given, I think I've only ever seen Gruen and myself ever participate in legality discussions with any degree of rigor. It's great to be a community touchstone and to have a long history in the WA, and even to be a prolific author. But none of these actually indicate suitability for this job. GenSec is a role for experts in procedure and adjudication, as far as that can be said for a browser game.

Posting here what I first wrote on Discord: I would not be comfortable serving on the Secretariat Board under the circumstances as they are now, namely, the obvious fact that GenSec and M/A are just not on the same page and M/A seems not to have a problem with that.

Coin flip odds, frankly. Forcibly closing nominations or even mass firing the rest of GenSec hardly seems out of the cards. That would be a disaster, of course. Moderation couldn't handle the GA proposal rules years ago and they certainly haven't accrued experience after years of doing no GA work. Good administration would show more concern for good rules enforcement and procedure than uniformity of opinion and subservience to site directors.

No idea about what the tone of internal discussions between M/A and GenSec looked like, but mass firing the rest of GenSec seems unlikely in my opinion. Closing this nominations thread and deferring it to a later date seems more probable to me.

I see Reploid Productions decided to go the route of conjuring up some imaginary websites that are far more tyrannical than NationStates, and you should just be grateful that it's not like those other websites, that are way more opaque than, *checks notes*, literally telling the community that moderation is strictly a closed door process; not responding to the community in any real capacity; capriciously removing people from their positions and gagging them and all even peripherally involved; threatening players; pushing changes through against community feedback; talking down to people; and outright refusing all requests for even a marginal amount of transparency.

Trust them; those worse websites/games definitely really exist outside of the hypothetical, so the community being ignored and remonstrated is a gift really -- a mercy even. It could be so much worse for you all, after all.
