The World Assembly,
Recognizing that many cultures have long celebrated arranged marriages as the joining of two families,
Respecting each member nation's right to retain their particular de facto cultures insofar as they are generally regarded to be the will of the nation's general population,
Concerned about the many ways in which force inevitably harms a person,
Celebrating marriage as a useful facet of society when all parties involved are consenting,
Hereby enacts the following policies into law:
- Definitions: A list of definitions to be used
- Marriage an agreement which officially and legally joins two non-related people into a personal partnership.
- Arranged marriage a marriage where the joined parties do not hold sole agency in determining their partner.
- Autonomous marriage a marriage where the joined parties hold sole agency in determining their partner.
- Consent
- n. approval given freely and according to one's own personal will.
- v. to freely give one's approval, agreement, or compliance
- Prohibited Behavior: The World Assembly hereby prohibits all member nations from engaging in the following activity:
- Passing legislation or otherwise supporting behavior that denies a person the unequivocal right to deny, avoid, or rescind a marriage before and/or after its official approval in accordance with local, regional, federal, or international law.
- Passing legislation that actively favors arranged marriages and/or the parties involved above those in autonomous marriages, or vice versa
- Banning outright the practice of either arranged marriages or autonomous, wherein all parties are consenting.
