[Draft] United Awareness Act

Postby Wuhmi » Sun Oct 17, 2021 6:11 pm

Observing the systems of many nations, there seems to be quite a lack in social observation towards mental illness. This plagues our society as a whole and we as a people need to work on helping out those less fortunate than us on any plane of life.

[proposal=]Hereby 1: Awareness programs will be instilled across the nations, covering the signs and symptoms of mental disorder. Counseling offices will become more commonplace as well. This should allow for society as a whole to find and address problems when it comes to mental health.

Hereby 2: Rehab centers will be formed more frequently as to help those struggling with addictions that they took upon as to cope with mental illness. This will allow easier access to a source of help in which to stop addiction, in which can be very strong at times.

Hereby 3: Governments should host a yearly screening in which adolescents will take an examination that will show how their mental state is. If 7 or more questions are answered that fall under the umbrella of mental disorder, the government should note the adolescent and have them seek counseling as to help them keep from mental disorder on a broad sense of how it affects them.

Hi Wuhmi, great to see ya posting again! Just judging from your formatting and language, I can definitely tell that you've looked at the WA resources I provided you last time. Those resources -- the getting started guide and the list of passed GA resolutions -- are going to be your best friends. So continue to read through them and try get as much as you can of a feel for the level of standard that's required of a resolution.

Now, what you have proposed here is not a bad start, but it is still quite a bit away from where it needs to be as a GA resolution. Let's start with your pre-ambulatory clauses. You want these statements to set the narrative for why this is an international issue that requires the World Assembly's attention. Try to come up with 3-4 detailed statements highlighting the detrimental effects of the lack of mental health awareness on inhabitants and nations around the world. After you establish these, you put in the "Hereby" -- you only need one, you don't need a "hereby" next to each operative clause.

Now, let's take a step back. The pre-ambulatory clauses you write should inform your operative clauses -- for example, if I highlight the need for mental health treatment, it makes sense that I'll have a couple of operative clauses addressing how my legislation seeks to tackle that. Remember, your operative clauses are mandates or recommendations to member nations. You don't need to explain the purpose of your operative clauses in a separate sentence -- it should be inherent through the mandate you're establishing. Just like with your pre-ambulatory clauses, operative clauses need to be grounded in detail. For example, in your first clause, you mention "awareness programs" -- what types of awareness programs? Likewise, you mention increasing the number of counseling offices? By how much? When you reach your operative clauses, ask yourself these questions to try and get them as detailed as possible.

I think that's all I'm going to give you in terms of feedback for now. My recommendation is for you is to come up with 3-4 pre-ambulatory clauses and 6 operative clauses that align with the feedback I gave you above. You can keep the same subject or change it -- up to you. The feedback above would be good to consider no matter the subject.

Let me know if you have any questions!
