Postby Popolojo » Sun Sep 05, 2021 6:50 am

Recognizing the economic benefits of worker-owned cooperative businesses,

Recognizing the rights of workers to hold influence in a company,

a. Making unnecessary police violence against unionized, striking, or protesting workers an automatic discharge from the force and 25 years in federal prison (if prisons are employed in the nation,)

This is sufficient reason for us to immediately toss this into the rubbish bin. Any economic policy enjoying widespread support on the left is almost certainly ruinously anti-sapient on contrary to the Natural Law and the rights of the people.

Popolojo wrote:Recognizing the economic benefits of worker-owned cooperative businesses,

Such as?

Popolojo wrote:Recognizing the rights of workers to hold influence in a company,

Probably the least offensive thing in this draft.

Popolojo wrote:a. Mandating that WA member states must allocate 25% of corporate welfare funds to the cooperative sector,

What is corporate welfare? Also, for our more sane member-state compatriots, 25% of nothing is still nothing.

Popolojo wrote:b. Providing unemployed individuals with cooperative jobs,

Through what mechanism do you suggest we do this? Are you suggesting we force businesses to hire workers against their will, whether they need said worker or not, or whether said worker has the appropriate education and skills for the job? Does 30 minutes washing a window count? Also, what is a cooperative job anyway? We are under the impression that most jobs are cooperative in nature, unless you are an enterprise's sole employee.

Popolojo wrote:a. Making unnecessary police violence against unionized, striking, or protesting workers an automatic discharge from the force and 25 years in federal prison (if prisons are employed in the nation,)

What is a Federal Prison? Also, would the ambassador care to explain why the myriad laws already passed by this assembly regarding speech, association, and government misconduct, including the badly conceived and disastrous ban on any form of immunity for law enforcement, are not sufficient?

Popolojo wrote:b. Making unnecessary civilian violence against unionized, striking, or protesting workers a capital crime (if capital punishment is legal in the nation),

Capital punishment is [unfortunately, wrongly, and against all sound principles of Justice] forbidden under WA law. Though, for once, we are not sure the scope of what you would apply capital punishment too is remotely commensurate with the possible crimes.

Popolojo wrote:c. Providing technological, financial, and logistical support to all unions on the verge of collapse,

Why? And with no regard to why such union may be on the verge of collapse? It is our state policy not to interfere when corrupt, criminal organizations, which in our experience describes the vast majority of unions, suffer the natural consequences thereof.

Popolojo wrote:3. Vows to fund education about the benefits of cooperatives and unions.

Fluffy bunny clause, but no mandate. Also, we are given to understand that most textbooks for our WA mandated financial literacy and economics classes have significant sections detailing the negative effects of left-wing labour movements and organizations historically.

OOC: Welcome to the WA. You will want to consult RexisQuexis at length. You may also want to have a look through proposal rules and advice as well. Finally, you may want to check out the proposal idea thread, though its OP is out of date and the collective hive mind has ceased to exist.

Does this already duplicate previously-written resolutions? You might want to check on that before advancing further.

Edit: I see you have submitted it. Why?

In solidarity with Ukraine, I will be censoring the letters Z and V from my signature. This is -ery much so a big change, but it should be a -ery positi-e one. -olodymyr -elensky and A-o- continue to fight for Ukraine while the Russians are still trying to e-entually make their way to Kharki-, -apori-h-hia, and Kry-yi Rih, but that will take time as they are concentrated in areas like Bakhmut, -uledar, and other areas in Donetsk. We will see Shakhtar play in the Europa League but Dynamo Kyi- already got eliminated. Shakhtar managed to play well against Florentino Pere-'s Real Madrid who feature superstars like -inicius, Ben-ema, Car-ajal, and -al-erde. Some prominent Ukrainian players that got big transfers elsewhere include Oleksander -inchenko, Illya -abarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

OOC: This was submitted. I find it hard to see that "on NationStates" in teh first line is not a reference to the game itself so I've marked it illegal for metagaming.

Non legality issues:

Federal - please note that federal is not a synonym for national.
Capital punishment has already been abolished by the GA.
All the feedback D&B provided which wasn't addressed.

It was submitted again, with the only apparent change being the removal of the portion that involved the word 'Nationstates'.

What even was the point of posting your first draft here if you're going to just treat the submission process as your attempts at drafting? You've listened to nothing that was brought up by the other folks here.

They simply don't care about the actual resolution-writing process. That's all.
