[DRAFT] Repeal GA #489

Postby Antelen » Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:33 pm

Applauding the intent of GA #489 to minimize harm to test animals and ban unnecessary pain inflicted to test animals,

However noting that Article 5a contradicts that intent, when this loophole can be exploited by the governments that are able to support animal research institutions but doesn't want to, not because of financial or law reasons, and rejects requests from animal research institutions,

Believing that Article 5a shall only be applied when the animal research institutions is in genuine need of financial funding from World Assembly General Fund to minimize harm inflicted to test animals and the government of which the animal research institute is a subject is unable to provide sufficient funding,

Hereby repeals GA #489 "Ethical Treatment of Animals in Research".

I think I had researched enough.

You need to do a lot more research. Your arguments do not make for a sufficient case.

Please actually make more of an effort instead of just making a bunch of low-quality proposals and hoping one sticks.
In solidarity with Ukraine, I will be censoring the letters Z and V from my signature. This is -ery much so a big change, but it should be a -ery positi-e one. -olodymyr -elensky and A-o- continue to fight for Ukraine while the Russians are still trying to e-entually make their way to Kharki-, -apori-h-hia, and Kry-yi Rih, but that will take time as they are concentrated in areas like Bakhmut, -uledar, and other areas in Donetsk. We will see Shakhtar play in the Europa League but Dynamo Kyi- already got eliminated. Shakhtar managed to play well against Florentino Pere-'s Real Madrid who feature superstars like -inicius, Ben-ema, Car-ajal, and -al-erde. Some prominent Ukrainian players that got big transfers elsewhere include Oleksander -inchenko, Illya -abarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Ok. But I just want to ask you and everybody reading this topic 1 question: Why, WHY does SC #361 is a SC resolution, not GA resolution???
Edit: I know it's a Declaration, but still...

Not the right topic to discuss SC361. Anyway, if you want to repeal a resolution and get support for it, you'll need much stronger arguments than what you have right now.

OOC: SC declarations are a recent innovation. There's a big thread about it in either technical or the SC forum.

It's a good idea to include a link to the target in the OP of a repeal thread - it saves people having to go find it themselves.

Hanging around here and reading and participating in other threads before trying to pass your own proposal is often good advice to people who are new to the GA. It would allow you to see the standards required and pitfalls that can be avoided.

Is there a resolution that is related to government censorship?

Try reading and doing some some research for a change.

Depending on your definition of “censorship”: Probably not (GA#538), Realistically a long shot (GA#539), A stretch on the rights of minorities (GA#426), and you can’t stop the press either (GA#155). This isn’t to mention a more broad “censorship” net which could take, at minimum, GA#436, GA#550, GA#537, GA#554, GA#557, GA#232, GA#196, and GA#78. All of these together take pretty much every conceivable angle to a censorship resolution off the table, I’m afraid. That is unless you can find a really novel re-interpretation of the issue of censorship.

I think GA #196 is my kind of definition for government censorship.
