[Draft] Pharmaceutical Drug Disposal Act

Postby Xeroa » Mon Jun 14, 2021 5:09 pm

Noting that nations all over the would flush down billions of pounds of unused pharmaceutical drugs into national waterways, and therefore causing a negative impact against the environment, such as products containing estrogen causing large numbers of fish and aquatic species to bear unnatural amounts of female offspring; and

Recognizing that the WA has previously passed legislation to protect the environment and in doing so has improved the environments and health of many nations' ecosystems and states that this resolution will affect both businesses and public health services.

Concerning the fact that high amounts of pharmaceuticals in national waterways can affect the health of citizens living near or using national waterways and lead to serious health problems, especially with high-risk citizens,

The General Assembly Hereby:

  1. Prevents the disposal of pharmaceutical and medical drugs from being disposed into national waterways, such as
    1. The dumping of pharmaceuticals anywhere with a body of water that directly connects to a watershed
    2. The dumping of pharmaceuticals into areas which are connected to waterways
  2. Restricts businesses and public healthcare services to prevent non-point-source contamination from disposing pharmaceuticals into
    1. National waterways and reservoirs
    2. Environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands and rainforests
  3. Allows businesses and public healthcare services to dispose of pharmaceuticals to
    1. Non-point source contamination risk areas which don't have a direct effect on national waterways
    2. Any area without high levels of wildlife

Dame Allania Trueblood sighs. "In what way is this not covered by WA #107 Clean Water Act, WA #223 Transboundary Water Use Act, WA #441 Convention On Freshwater Shortages, WA #453 Preventing Groundwater Contamination, or WA #288 Right to Adequate Sanitation
? I doubt it is possible for a nation to be dumping alchemical agents into water supplies without violating at least one of those, if not more than one, in the process."

I didn't see any info on the disposal of pharmaceutical drugs into water supplies in any of them

"Alchemical drugs are pollutants when dumped into the environment, are they not? A resolution doesn't need to specify alchemical drugs in particular if the general category to which they belong is already regulated."

"Notice all the references to "national" waterways? Nothing international is even mentioned here. Thus more mindless minutiae, and meddling. Not a chance."

I'm not in the WA or anything but this is pretty bad, the emphasis on national waterways, aquatic animals and the effect against health takes away from the original point. by the way, what is your original point or the thing you are trying to solve? you should put that in there.
