Fair Conscription Act
A resolution to improve worldwide human sapient and civil rights.
Category: Civil Rights
Strength: Mild
Proposed by: Tinhampton

Whereas the prevention of arbitrary discrimination is sensible, the General Assembly hereby:
  1. forbids member states from requiring or not requiring any person to engage in military service because they possess or do not possess any arbitrary and reductive characteristic, and
  2. requires members not to consider any person's possession or non-possession of any arbitrary and reductive characteristic when deciding if they should be deemed a conscientous objector.

RE Article 1c: Member states may think that only conscribing men "because their body strength is better than women's" is a "compelling practical purpose..." come to think of it I should probably allow member state militaries not to conscribe people with disabilities that leave them pretty much unable to fight in wars "just for the hell of it" (owtte) in my next draft

RE Article 2a: Militaries controlled by the state are not generally the sole providers of "housing [or] education" nor can they be described as offering "private employment;" it is also clear that this resolution does not cover "employment benefits [or] compensations." Regarding the only possible ground of forbidden discrimination left, I ask only this - can military membership be construed as such a "service[] provided to the general public" and how? :P
