[Draft] Protection Of Scientific Research Act

Postby Insergency » Sun May 30, 2021 12:48 pm

The PoSR act is designed to protect those who work inside the scientific field regardless of political powers. As such this act is split into 1 rule regarding the scientific community.

1. Regardless of political or ideological beliefs it is illegal for any individual to attempt to discredit scientific advancement for personal gain regardless of conditions. No one may defund scientific research and any attempt to overthrow scientific research is to be considered an international crime. While nations may mildly change this law it is illegal to completely defund science and any accusation of this will be causation for international concern and panic. For the right of the people, we cannot return to the medieval age. However, it is important to note that, in a case of crimes been commit by the researcher the PoSR does not apply.

I think you should read it.
If the ambassador acts like an ambassador, it's probably Delegate Arthur.
If he acts like an edgy teen, it's probably definitely Delegate Jim.... it's always Jim

Protection Of Scientific Research Act

I strongly oppose this proposal. This is extremely vague and would do nothing but politicize science even further than it already has been.

Category, and Strength or Area of Effect?

You're saying that once a research programme has been allocated any funding this must continue, even if (A) the research's results indicate that the original hypothesis was faulty; (B) the research becomes dangerous to people and/or the environment; or (C) the researchers are found to be using unethical -- perhaps illegal -- techniques (e.g. non-consensual experimentation on people...)?

2. Attempting to break the PoSR is cause for immediate international condemnation, if such an event occurs without the act been repealed then it shall become a reason for war or loss of communications. Restrictions are in place under safeguarding policies which should make the breaking of the PoSR a crime against humanity.
If you mean "condemnation" in the Security Council Resolution sense then this makes the proposal illegal for Meta-gaming.[1/6 of GenSec]

3. Each country has the right to 'repeal the PoSR' but each country also has the right to restore the PoSR. Nothing prevents the recreation of the PoSR at any time, in any place. Weather on a nation or international level.
No. Resolutions can NOT be effectively optional: This clause is a definite illegality.[1/6 of GenSec]
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
