[SUBMITTED] Repeal "Promotion of Clean Energy"

Postby Imperium Anglorum » Mon May 24, 2021 5:12 am

The World Assembly,

Confident that clean electric power is already economically viable and that carbon emissions are accurately priced under GA 445 "Greenhouse Gas Cap and Trade Program",

Believing, therefore, that the provisions in the target resolution urging member nations to "dis-incentivize the usage of fossil fuels" and encouraging member nations to "create legislation and policy that works in other ways to decrease the nation's overall carbon footprint" have been fulfilled,

Thinking not that the World Assembly has come to destroy the law, but instead thinking that it has already come to fulfil it, and

Hoping that after fulfilling this sacred duty, representatives and other staff would leave for much-deserved lodging and relaxation rather than burning midnight oil, hereby:

Repeals GA 357 "Promotion of Clean Energy".

Wavering opposition. The last clause is good; the first two, not as much :P

“The issue I have, Ambassador, is that GAR 357 does more than impose sanctions to reduce fossil fuel consumption and emission limits, but as the resolution is aptly titled, it also promotes clean energy. Now unless this GAR 445 has similar sanctions to specifically promote the usage of clean energy, I’m afraid the people of Waldenes will have to oppose your repeal.”

If the ambassador acts like an ambassador, it's probably Delegate Arthur.
If he acts like an edgy teen, it's probably definitely Delegate Jim.... it's always Jim

“Ambassador... I can assure you we are not in violation of GAR 122 because our previous Ambassador knew all of the resolutions very well. Please have some patience. I was appointed to this position less than a week ago and I am still reading through numerous resolutions. Now, if someone could pass me a copy of GAR 445...”

Full support. Laka Strolistandiler is completely opposed to the very idea of “clean” energy, viewing it as economically and technically inferior to nuclear energy and as such will support this resolution.

"Upon re-reading, I agree with the ambassador from Merni that the "thinking" clause should be reworded."

OOC: Matthew 5:17 for posterity so you don't have to look it up- "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them"

Matthew 5:17.

OOC. Personally I think clarity is more important than references to religious verses :)
