The Freedom of Socialist Association Act

Postby Carrico » Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:37 am

Greetings, fellow World Assembly members. I am rather new at creating World Assembly resolutions, however, I have recently submitted our first proposal entitled "The Freedom of Socialist Association Act".

You can find the submission here:
https://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_vi ... 1618282317

I am looking for some constructive and kind feedback on our first WA resolution. It seems to have already garnered 9 approvals in the submission vote collecting process thus far, with 60 needed.
If you believe it will not be ruled legal, I would love to know what actions that could be taken to bring the resolution into legality in your view. It seems none have ruled on the legality of this yet. I put a decent amount of effort and work into it, using my knowledge collected after being a WA member for a few years now.

We hope to gain your support in addressing this important issue!
(My apologies for not being very well versed in how to stylize my forum posts just yet.)

Thanks for your support and help.

This was submitted as CivilRights/Significant and its full text is reproduced below for posterity:
Commending this body for the continued efforts to protect the freedoms of individuals to freely associate and politically organize.

Appalled by the efforts of some nations to enact brutal repression campaigns and policies against their citizens whom are alleged to have some type of socialist or communist affiliation.

Acknowledging the critical role these individuals, parties, and movements play in spurring progressive change for their people; especially in the realm of labor protections and economic rights.

Asserting the need to specifically enact protections for organizers, individuals, parties, and movements from political persecution which may be inflicted upon them simply due to possible socialist or communist affiliations.

Hereby:

1. Discourages any member state from enacting measures, or engaging in intimidation tactics, which may discourage citizens from freely identifying as a socialist or communist.

2. Prohibits any member state from enacting measures, or engaging in intimidation tactics, which may deny the freedom of their citizens to willingly associate with a socialist (or communist) collective, organization, party, or individual.

3. Prohibits any member state from denying an individual any of their protected human rights simply due to a communist or socialist affiliation.

4. Prohibits any member state from interfering in the legal organizing efforts of socialist or communist groups or individuals, be it domestically or internationally.

5. Prohibits any member state from enacting laws or policies which would effectively make the display of general iconography associated with socialism or communism a criminal offense.

Is this intended to be a response to Boston Castle/Hulldom's draft on Freedom of Association?

Not very well-written and also not feasible.

I am curious how this is illegal for duplication.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.
