Thoughts on affirmative action?

Postby Edrace » Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:35 pm

On one hand I can definitely see why people think it’s stupid, but on the other, I get the argument that it creates more diverse ideas. Just asking for thoughts.

I would not support a proposal requiring member states or organisations within their jurisdiction to engage in affirmative action practices ;p.

Since you most likely want to address affirmative action in a proposal: don't.

Not a resolution, talking about it as a whole and whether it’s right or wrong

Then why'd you post in the GA forum? General is the forum you're looking for.

Affirmative action based on race isn’t effective at addressing social equality issues and although needed at points because people refused minorities at all costs, it would be more reasonable to have affirmative action based on Economic factors. It would address issues with minority poverty, be more inclusive on those poor, and help more people overall rather than just one selected group and plus it’s more progressive rather than just accepting people on race without consideration on economic class and selecting minorities who can be way richer than other groups which can also have massive pockets of poverty and less academic opportunities
