"We believe that the right of every nation to possess nuclear weapons must be assured in a reasonable fashion. Any feedback would be appreciated."

Nuclear Use Keystone Enactment

Category: International Security
Strength: NaCl

The World Assembly,

Acknowledging that nuclear weapons are a valid and effective peacekeeping tool in certain situations;

Lamenting the lack of a resolution detailing said situations;

Wishing to define the situations in which the possession of nuclear weapons is acceptable, hereby:
  1. Declares that all member nations may possess two nuclear weapons, to share;
  2. Prohibits the acquisition and development of further nuclear weapons by member nations;
  3. Further declares that all member nations shall have an equal allotment of time each year during which the two nuclear weapons are moved to that nation after a two-month security review after the previous nation had their turn;
  4. Further prohibits the use of nuclear weapons unless no conventional alternatives exist;
  5. Even further prohibits the possession of nuclear weapons unless there is an imminent threat requiring their use;
  6. Asserts that there are no wrong hands when it comes to nuclear weapons;
  7. Mandates that any nuclear weapons inconsistent with this resolution be decommissioned and their materials be used to build WA Choice Plus clinics;
  8. Affirms that member nations have the right to decide if they want to possess nuclear weapons.

"Which resolution would that be?"

Our country has more than 2 nuclear weapons, and we rather not give them up. MAD doesn't work if each nation barely has any nuclear weapons.

"We just edited our draft, so now you don't have to give them up! Instead of using nuclear weapons to murder innocent people, you can use them to fuel abortions. MAD is still applicable here, as the resolution does not specify who controls the nuclear weapons."

OOC: You are, I imagine, aware that this will not pass, yes?

"Of course it will pass, many people are saying. It will be a great pass, a tremendous pass, perhaps pass more tremendously than anyone thought possible. The Generals, they all come up to me, tears in their eyes, and complain about the weapons passing. You know I passed a big one the other day? Came right through. People look at it and ask, 'How did you pass that?' Maybe I should get a medal. Not me, but many people are saying..."

"Ambassador, I'm afraid I don't know who you're talking too..."

"I don't think that transportation services are up to the task of carrying out clause three. No support."

"I'm talking to the GA Secretary at the register who's refusing to let me speak with their manager. I specifically ordered an Orange Julius, so why does it look yellow?"

"You could easily write a proposal funding time travel infrastructure. Lack of existing legislation is not a reason to oppose."

OOC: Joke proposal thread's over there.

IC: Leo looks at the draft and scowls. He places it on the desk in front of him, stands up on his chair, and unzips his fly... then appears to think better of whatever horrid thing he was about to do. He gets down, reaches into his suit jacket's inside chest pocket, and removes his trusty Zippy lighter. He marches over to the central podium, lights the paper copy of the draft on fire while staring straight into the Cretoxian ambassador's eyes, and drops the flaming paper directly onto the podium. Then he turns right around and stalks straight out of the debate chamber. The enormous door closes behind him with a solid, almost palpably hostile THUD.

"Good, this seems like a good compromise between the pro choice and pro life sides. Both the mother and the baby die of radiation sickness, pro choice lobby gets an abortion, the pro life lobby gets to watch the mother die for trying to kill the baby."
OOC: clause 5 and 8 seem to contradict each other.

“This is an absolutely marvellous piece of legislation. However, I do think there might be a better chamber in which it could be debated.”
