We're honestly not that sure about your second point because we honestly have no idea about its exact meaning and implication."

OOC: I'm kind of curious how the Access to Abortion resolution applies to non-human sapients, then. IRL, from species to species, periods of gestation can vary greatly. In the event that someone's hamster goes to found a massive empire and civilization here in Nationstates, they'd be unable to make a several months trip for a 16-23 day pregnancy. Is that really openly accessible for them?

Gosh that sounds so weird to say.

Edit: After thinking about it, they'd probably have a greater gestation period if they could get so far to form a coherent nation, but theoretically - it could still have some relevance.

OOC: I guess the definition of 'speedily accessible' would depend on the species. The hamseter empire would need lots of abortion clinics. Though I guess manpower wouldn't be an issue since hamsters breed like... you know, hamsters...

“This repeal is looking better. However, on principle, I won’t support a repeal of GA #499. Minor flaws do not warrant the removal of effective legislation.”

(OOC: Consult the Administrative Compliance Act, and consider how it affects your nation. In the meantime, there is no incentive for anyone to change GA legislation to fit noncompliant states.)

"We opposed 'Access to Abortion' when it came to a vote," recalled Quintus, "but we do not wish to see this come to a vote. In our opinion, the abortion issue is a dead issue, and we do not see the need to revisit this issue so frequently."

"As they are breaking the laws of your country, that you willingly signed up to when you joined the World Assembly, your leaders are by definition criminals. And you clearly don't know the proper meaning of the words involved, since a foetus is not a child, 'life' is meaningless and murder requires the illegal slaying of a person. This is sixth grade civics, I am surprised your legal staff have not told you. Again, given the abject criminality of your leaders, the dishonesty of your delegation and your lack of understanding of the topic, why should we let you influence laws you are deliberately breaking yourself?"

Would YOU comply with a theoretical resolution that bans nearly all abortions?

"Were my nation unable to comply, we would resign. If governments are disinterested in compliance despite the benefits of membership, they can resign. This is a false dichotomy."

"If it was airtight, the Solidarity Movement would reevaluate our World Assembly membership and international obligations. That could include resigning to avoid enslaving women or working to repeal such a resolution. It would not include our delegation continuously shouting that we are criminals by breaking clearly established laws."

The plan was to make the clinics quite ritzy, but sacrifices had to be made.

The repeal of #456 may render this argument moot.
