[DRAFT] Repeal: Protection of Airspace

Postby North Rainier » Sat May 02, 2020 4:35 am

The World Assembly,

Recognizing every nation’s will to exercise full control over its sovereign airspace as an important part of its territorial claims;

Knowing that control over a nation’s airspace will define the nation’s military power and influence;

Noting that a resolution may be put in place to replace GAR464, redefining these issues:

Fearing that:
•Resolution GAR464 could render airfreight during wartime null
•The set height of sovereign airspace may be too high so that a nation completely enclosed by another
could be at fear for their economic stability if the enclosing nation does not allow airfreight to said country
•International civilian air travel would have to reroute around a nation's airspace; using more fuel and putting the environment at risk
•Flights over said resolutions proposed airspace could result in preventable conflicts

Recognizing that repeal is the only option, as it is impossible to patch these issues without a completely new resolution, hereby,
Repeals GAR464 “Protection of Airspace”

Legislating in a repeal renders it illegal. Repeals repeal only. Resolutions legislate only. There is no combining them.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

I deleted the defining bit, is it legal now?

"I am not entirely certain what exactly is bad about commercial flights needing to go around a nation's airpsace rather than through it? Sure, they'll use more fuel, but if they for some reason have to fly, when there are surface travel options available, that's their choice. Araraukarian airspace is closed from domestic flights as well, with only the coastal areas having coast guard airpatrol and search-and-rescue services available. The mag-lev trains are almost as fast as an airplane in travel time, much cheaper for the state to run as a service, and far less polluting. I'm not even sure the initial costs are higher, given all the infrastructure needed by passenger jets, not to mention cargo planes."

OOC note: The mag-lev service is free to Araraukarian citizens and cheaper than airfares normally are, for tourists.

Apologies for absences, non-COVID health issues leave me with very little energy at times.
