There is no deadline to submit resolutions. The General Assembly is planned to accept resolutions for many years to come. In terms of the time that it takes for something to come to vote, that is equal to four days for every proposal in queue, so it will take almost a month for a resolution submitted now to come to vote.

If, by “the same resolution”, you mean submitting a resolution written by someone else, then I warn you to seek permission from that someone first. Otherwise, this qualifies as plagiarism, which is against the rules.

Should I Rejoin?

Postby Fishelle » Fri Feb 02, 2024 2:19 pm

I have left the WA for a while due to me misinterpreting the Forced Blood Sport Eradication Act as an anti-fishing law due to past iterations, but if I rejoin I shall retract all of the Anti-WA dispatches and other media that isn't forumside in favor of agreeing with the WA for once.
The reason this pertains to the GA is because I left because of the GA's laws, which I misinterpreted.
So please, feel free to tell me if I should or shouldn't.

Whether you join is up to you. What I can provide are some benefits of membership:
  • Voting on resolutions in both the GA and the SC,
  • Electing your regional delegate by endorsing that nation,
  • Contributing to your region’s security by building influence, and
  • Potentially authoring a resolution of your own, which will be forever immortalised.
I can also confirm that the resolution in question does not ban fishing.

Either post the proposal's details & your arguments against its legality in the Illegal GA Proposals thread -- which has normally been decidedly closer to the start of this forum than its current position on page 6(!) -- or use those details & arguments as the opening post of a new thread -- under the title of '[CHALLENGE} Target Proposal's Title -- in this forum... or, if the target proposal has a drafting thread, you could just post your argument therein.

It depends on the proposal, and proposals can often fit into multiple categories. At first glance, though, that sounds as though it would belong in Environmental.

There used to be: GA #417 Restrictions on Hydraulic Fracturing. However, it was repealed by GA #650.

There's even been at least one proposal that stayed in the queue (but IIRC wasn't passed) after the nation that had submitted it was deleted by the Mods.

The category system is currently necessary to apply relevant stat changes to member nations upon the passage of a resolution. Our current hope is to have Issue Editors code appropriate stat effects when a resolution passes, allowing for more specific and relevant changes according to what the proposal actually says. This would make categories unnecessary, resulting in their removal entirely.

They determine (in collaboration with the community) what the rules for proposals are, and enforce them, so they are empowered to delete, by way of vote, proposals that do not follow the rules. Membership was originally determined by the moderation team, and, since then, GenSec votes for its own replacements when there is a vacancy.
