Yeah, the Archive is public, to let the community see our thinking and how we come up with legality rulings. If you could still see the private forum even after being de-modded, that would be something to fix.

No worries, I do not see that.

The "Humanism Be Declared The Nation Religion of Each S" Proposal should be illegal.

Since (hope im not wrong), it isnt written in the viewpoint of the WA and it list some statistics that affects crime rates.

You're basically correct, although in that context I'd just include those statistics as part of the 'Branding' illegality.
Comments like this belong in the 'Illegal GA Proposals 2nd edition' thread, however, and I've posted a copy of the proposal with my ruling there.

I hadn't caught the metagaming bit, probably since I haven't answered any issues that would lead me to create a national religion in my main.

Would it be feasible to make legislation regarding magic?

The standard process of a repeal + replace would be:
1) Draft a repeal on the forum, presenting arguments against current deficiencies and encouraging replacement.
2) Submit + and campaign for the proposal, and bring it to vote.
3) Hope it passes.
4) Draft the replacement with all desired improvements, and do the same things as before.

I must ask though what you don't like about 419 that you want to change. It strikes me as a rather good resolution.

Proposals to change stuff about the game go in the Technical (or Moderation if you mean forum rules) forum, with appropriate reasoning for why whatever change would be good.

I am currently drafting a proposal on equality for people of all genders and sexualities, and in clause 4 of my current draft I have written an exception to sanctions for religious organisations subject to future WA resolutions.
https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=457915#p35179199
The purpose of this is to provide a basic protection for religious organisations until legislation is passed regarding religion and civil rights generally, which I obviously can't cover in one clause of a mainly unrelated proposal.
My question is, would such future resolutions be considered amendments on this one, or would something like this be totally legal?

If you give the religious organisation the 'right to discriminate' and future legislation would state they should not be able to discriminiate in any circumstance whatsoever, I believe that should be illegal for contradiction. But in general, this is probably to vague to be answered comprehensively, as it depends on the future proposal's text a good bit.

What does "must abide by its legislation" mean?

Postby The Unified Galactic Empire » Wed Feb 06, 2019 10:53 am

I want to join the WA but I'm a little confused as to what it means that all member states must "abide by legislation" passed by the WA. Is there any in-game mechanism that enforced obedience?

For example, there's a GA resolution that prohibits member states from using torture. There are also a lot of issues that address torture (both directly and indirectly). Does joining the WA mean the game would prevent me from approving torture in an issue? Or would that option simply be invisible to me? (ie non-WA nations addressing the same issue could see/select an "Approve Torture" option, but WA nations wouldn't even be able to see it).

I'm excited to join the WA, but I'm just confused about this game mecahnic. Any help would be great! Thanks!

As far as the game's mechanics are concerned, the GA and Issues are completely separate: Resolutions passing while you're a member will automatically affect your nation's stats in various ways, but GA members can still receive issues & options that they "shouldn't" get. It's a convention that players in this section of the forums shouldn't claim blatant non-compliance with any passed resolutions, especially if they're trying to create valid proposals themselves, but "creative compliance" (by finding reasonable loopholes) is generally acceptable.
If you roleplay in any other section of the forums, however, you normally don't have to acknowledge there that the WA even exists!

Is there any World Assembly precedent when it comes to abort

Postby Hatzisland » Sun Feb 10, 2019 1:56 pm

The nation of Hatzisland is currently drafting plans on abortion law, and is also considering creating an abortion proposal to be voted on by the World Assembly. What our nation would like to know is whether there is any resolutions that have been previously passed by the World Assembly, in an effort to comply with international law. We hope you will help answer our question and we thank you for creating a platform for which these questions can be answered.

This is an OOC thread. You don't need to RP here.

Look at GAR#128 and GAR#286. Both legalize abortion to various degrees.
