[DRAFT] Charter of the Wolrd Economic Organization

Postby Angvard » Wed Apr 28, 2010 9:30 am

The Dominion of Angvard seeks the counsel of her sister nations on the following

Charter of the World Economic Organization

The People of the World Assembled

RECOGNIZING national sovereignty as an inviolable right of nations,

ENDEAVORING to promote economic development and global trade,

RESOLVING to provide mechanisms to promote said trade and development,

CREATES the World Economic Organization

ESTABLISHES the primary aims of the World Economic Organization as

i) Support sustainable economic growth
ii) Support employment
iii) Raise Living Standards
iv) Assist with Economic Development
v) Contribute to a growth in world trade by maintaining financial stability

DIRECTS the World Economic Organization (hereafter WEO) to achieve these aims by providing a forum for Nations to coordinate domestic and international policies, to exchange experiences, to develop best economic practices, and to assist in finding answers to common problems

REQUIRES that data regarding economic, social, trade, environmental, technological and tax patterns and trends be collected, collated and analyzed by the WEO solely for the use of member nations, and permits the WEO to conduct data collection and research into further areas that impact upon world trade and economic freedom as it sees fit.

GUARANTEES that the Laws of Nations maintain preeminence over the rules, directives, and recommendations of the WEO

FURTHER GUARNATEES that membership of the WEO is strictly voluntary and member nations may leave at any time

RESOLVES that if this resolution is passed the governing body of the WEO shall be initially selected by the spokesperson of the assembly and directed to establish rules, orders and governing directives for the WEO and to arrange for the election of a permanent governing body within one year of the passage of this act

first off, we believe this

FURTHER GUARNATEES that membership of the WEO is strictly voluntary and member nations may leave at any time

may well make it illegal, as resolutions are not optional.
Everything you know about me is wrong. Or a rumor. Something like that.

Illegal for metagaming, both optionality,
The opinionality ban refers to when language such as "Nations can ignore this Resolution if they want," which is right out.

and creating stuff
Committees may be created, as long as certain things are kept in mind: nations do not sit on committees,

Plus, I don't know that this actually *does* anything. It creates an organization to coordinate and develop, but doesn't mention anything specific like tariffs, trade, loans, et cetera.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
Bible quote? No, that's just common sense.

It appears that this draft now only establishes a committee. Creating just a committee is not what a proposal does according to the WA proposals rulebook. in short, is there something that member states must do apart from those that involve a committee?

This clause would automatically require outright rejection by The Kingdom of Manticore Reborn. My government will never agree to share this type of information to the world at large. Not only does this sort of information gathering border on espionage this clause in and of itself is too open ended.

Further more, the final clause of this proposal basically renders everything before it moot.
