"My fellow ambassadors, good day to you all. I am not the author of this proposal, but I do believe since its slated to be voted upon in 21 minutes that a discussion must be started."

General Assembly Resolution #475 “Promoting Natural Sciences in Schools” (Category: Education and Creativity; Area of Effect: Educational) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The General Assembly,

Respectful for GAR #475, in the pursuit of a solution to insufficient promotion of scientific education in schools,

However conscious that, as the following are not defined and vague, opposing member nations may exploit and or misinterpret the terms 'non-trivial length of time' and 'relevant educational content', used in Clause 2, in a counterproductive way, and could put students at an educational disadvantage,

Worried that GAR #475 neglects a fundamental scientific practice in the employment of the peer-review process in setting standards for the eligibility of teachable, accepted scientific content, which may lower the quality of scientific education in many schools,

Troubled that the mandates of Clause 5, as it allows for problematic scenarios in the case of the prohibition of deliberate dissemination of 'false' information, can be evaded where hypotheses or ideas, unaccepted by the scientific community, can be taught mistakenly as a result of the vagueness in Clause 2, without deliberately disseminating 'false' information,

Concerned that Clause 7 urges member nations fund private schools' science classes in contradiction with their actual financial nature, and should instead have mandated, or even urged, that private schools appropriately fund science classes themselves in agreement with the general aim of the proposal,

Hopeful that, although GAR #475 has noble intentions and addresses an important issue, more effective legislation on this topic can be soon passed by this Assembly,

Hereby repeals General Assembly Resolution #475, "Promotion of Natural Sciences in Schools."

EDIT: I should really read the entire post. I see that it is not your proposal, so please pardon my addressing you as if it were yours. My apologies.

Something to note in the future, Ambassador, would be it is far more beneficial to post a draft here to be discussed, debated, and revised prior to submission. Your chances of success are vastly improved as opposed to just submitting. Discussing after it is submitted, and at vote is sort of a moot point simply because it's been submitted and any recommended changes cannot be made without withdrawing your proposal.

Mind you it is not required, but your odds of success are definitely improved.

OOC: It's not Kuriko's proposal...

OOC: Yeah, I caught that after the fact and made an edit to indicate as such. Thanks for the assist, it is appreciated.

Indeed, it's quite concerning that this bill was not drafted or put up for discussion prior to its submission. In addition, the resolution that would be repealed is quite thorough and without the immediate passage of a similar resolution that would address the issues laid out in this bill, it would certainly leave a vacuum in this very important subject. I have no reason to believe that a similar resolution would be passed due to the lack of a drafting period for this bill. For that reason, I must vote against the bill at this time.

OOC: Whoops, I noticed that after. I went off of what The Sheika said. Still, the rest stands. Sorry, I'm new to this.

It's pinned on top. Right here. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=474559

But if ur talking about kurikos proposal, the clarification made was that she or he posted the topic for another author so the ambassadors can discuss it thinking the author didn't make the topic or they didn't see the proposal since it fell off the few pages. So no, there was no proposal by kuriko.

SVP add something like "(by: AUTHOR)" to the thread title.
