Athenadom Ambassador to the World Assembly

Hello my fellow members of the world assembly. My name is Leila Mahabadi and I am the ambassador from Athenadom. I have reason to worry about an uprise of slavery in our world regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. I believe that our current laws on the books are too lenient towards countries that want to participate in this abhorrent practice which ruins the lives of thousands. I propose that we update the current laws on slavery and we expand those laws to include prisoners of war, child trafficking, and other forms of slavery. My nation has just drafted a declaration against the Pro-Slavery alliance and I believe that the World Assembly should do the same. Only through unity can we ensure equal rights for all people.
Leila Mahabadi, Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Athenadom

Once again, this is not an in-character thread, it's just a place to bounce ideas.

Also, that has already been done. You could maybe try passing a law against keeping POWs, but good luck with that one. As for everything else... It would help to look at legislature on the books before asking for it

An arranged marriage clause.

Government spends resources and it's intelligence efforts to find someone for everyone so everybody is married and reproducing. People whom are single are essentially oppressed secondary citizens and thereby not subject to taxation or law enforcement until they are married. This could also give government the right to deny a divorce under the basis of they can't find them someone soon enough to remarry too so get it right the first time.

Yay, everybody wins and isn't depressed and alone. You're welcome.

Bad - and illegal - idea. GA#39 allows "all inhabitants of the World Assembly member states" to seek a divorce.

Well, arraigned marriages doesn't necessarily mean forced marriages. It could be little more then a nationalized EHarmony.
Still a bad idea for GA proposal tho.

Our nation believes we understand your nations stance very well.

We would like to put through a proposal on the very essence of an issues of citizens being born or a civil right ever passed that is a form of suppression by this WA that their is a proposal allowing for constitutional law to outway WA law at times. That allows nations to opt out of bad proposals...It's a serious discussion and the WA needs to take the liberty of nations more serious. Their are proposals in place stopping problems that don't exist by most nations...I say repeal!! This WA acts more like a congressional body than an international body... I criticize most WA proposal because our nation cares and we care enough we are joining the body of the great WA to make a diffirence. Now most in the WA will say doing such isn't possible because their are rules and they are right. So we need to repeal laws and try to make international proposal that is fair to all nations.....

Our nation has a question how is the WA unfair to your nation? In being in the WA perhaps we can be a proponent for the change your nation desires. Thank you for your comment and with compassion our nation cares...

We would put through a proposal for free heating and air-condition for citizens at the expense of our government and WA for citizens in our nations who can't afford such a service. If the environment is comfortable then children are more and likely to stay home and take education serious.... We would work on a proposal someday as such that fits into the genre of good proposal...

Laws such as A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry is horrible proposal so where's the compensation for the loss to such industries in making the change....Their isn't and it's unrealistic...So my nation and others like it have states in a Northern region. If they change to wind turbines the turbines freeze up and citizens don't get heat if we were to follow this proposal on mark.....We need change in the WA. Our nation uses nuclear energy in most places but still no compensation for the change to our citizens who have converted or for industry in which it's not possible.... In some areas of our nation coal is important...

Texkentuck, bubby, people have been telling you this over and over. Being able to selectively decide which laws to follow is not possible. You're either all in or all out, no exceptions (unless you're willing to let the WACC impose massive fines and sanctions for malcompliance. Given your opinions on abortion and transgender people, I highly suspect there are many laws you aren't following). If you want to respect national sovereignty over the international body, maybe stick to your UCCR roleplay and stay out of the World Assembly, like people have been saying for months. Every resolution causes stat changes to your nation that are impossible to opt-out of, save for leaving the assembly altogether. This assertion on National Sovereignty is entirely motivated by the fact that you want the clout and power of being significant in the WA without ever having to compromise yourself. Every nation has had to comply to all laws here, if you cannot handle it then it's not our problem. But if you really want to draft repeals, go ahead and try to draft a repeal thread, and we'll see if your argument has any merit (instead of borderline demanding other people write repeals on your behalf)

Also the whole thing about wind turbines freezing up is quite humorous. If one puts in some actual effort toward preventative maintenance for cold weather, wind turbines will work excellently in the most frigid places. There's even a wind farm in Antarctica that's been working extremely well. So what exactly is your excuse for not following the law in this case, other than your nation's laziness/inefficiency/incompetence?

It's unfair to nations like us because everybody's political ideology out-weighs their thinking so it just ends in everybody going for random laws that change our government for no reason. It's why people like me left. We don't want to be dragged down by stupid laws and policy's that we don't need. That's pretty much the main reason to why I made my own region so I could make my own government body that is against the WA. I don't want to be controlled by the WA who relies on chance and bias.
That is all I have to say.

If you want to make a discussion thread about GA and belonging to it, make it on this forum, with [DISCUSSION] tag, but don't make it if you're just going to whine about specific resolutions.

If there's a resolution you don't necessarily like, look at the exact wording of the resolution, maybe there's some wiggle room between the wording and the intended effect. Following the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law is entirely allowed, even if some people get huffy when you do.

I'd like to write a replacement for Resolution #110, but I'd also like to have a coauthor that can help me with the writing and development of the proposal.

Help Divorced parents with childeren

Postby Texkentuck » Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:53 pm

Our nation doesn't have two delegates to support our nation in putting fourth proposal. Our nation recognizes an issue in nations in which their is the issue of single parents and childeren involved. We would like to put fourth a proposal to help parents and mostly the children of our nations. First we would like to add in an incentives for free heating and cooling to such households. If a child is in a comfortable environment it has been statistically proven in Texkentuck that a comfortable environment leads to childeren staying home and learning. Also a comfortable environment leads to less domestic violence. Also if we write a proposal we would like to add an incentive for all parties evolved in paying child support or recieving child support get an incentive. Also to keep it fair we would like to have a world wide yearly incentive for people who have a job or career. We have programs in place for those unfortunate to have a job and those who take advantage of the system. But the average citizen is left behind and we believe we can make our nations better. All advice is accepted. Please think of the single parents and mostly the childeren to help bring about such a proposal that will increase human rights.- This is an idea for a proposal and not the proposal written out in proper form..... We also are for world wide free heating and cooling to all citizens of WA Nations....It's an idea P.S. we have other ideas for setting up a fund for such childeren to receive stimulus for personal use or college. We should make the funds available for them to get at the age of 17 with out parental approval. We can decide the age or leave out the idea of stimulus. The rest is also great for a proposal

Hi, I'm currently finishing up the updated OP (hopefully will be up tonight or tomorrow) but once I do get it done, please let me know if there are any errors - I did my best but at the end of the day, I am only one person.

I'm posting here to preserve the original OP in case something needs to be reverted, or one of you wants to use it for something in the future:

Last Updated: April 27, 2019

Hello, there denizens of the General Assembly:

Per the agreement of several General Assembly regulars in a recent symposium, we've set up this thread to help gather ideas for potential General Assembly proposal ideas that have not been covered by existing legislation, designed to help new writers find good and manageable topics to write about, as well as to connect with existing authors to potentially work with. We encourage regulars (and others) to submit/post any ideas they haven't gotten to, and might want to hand off to others, or any interesting ideas they've been thinking of. If they're willing to work with prospective authors on a variety of topics, they should indicate as much.[/box]

I believe that your proposed third topic has already been covered by GA#476 - unless you want to clarify that you want another resolution clearly stating that the rights guaranteed by it cannot be taken away without repeal or something :P
The Self-Administrative City of TINHAMPTON (pop. 319,372): Saffron Howard, Mayor (UCP); Alexander Smith, WA Delegate-Ambassador

Authorships & co-authorships: SC#250, SC#251, Issue #1115, SC#267, GA#484, GA#491, GA#533, GA#540, GA#549, SC#356, GA#559, GA#562, GA#567, GA#578, SC#374, GA#582, SC#375, GA#589, GA#590
Other achievements: Cup of Harmony 73 champions; Philosopher-Queen of Sophia; possibly very controversial; "Tinhampton? the man's literally god"
Who am I, really? 46yo Tory woman w/Asperger's; Cambridge graduate; currently reading nothing much
