Sorry I could fit it on the Subject but I have drafted a repeal for GA 457. Considering I doubt that the WA would vote in favor of making polygamy mandatorily legalized if it was worded like that, (I wouldn’t) I figured I would get rid of the resolution that made it mandatory to legalize less obviously. I actualy think that the rights of gender minorities SHOULD get further covered in future legislation. Just not polygamy.

General Assembly Resolution #457 "Protecting the Rights of Sexual and Gender Minorities" shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Calling to attention that in GA #457, polygamy is listed as a civil marriage that is required for every nation in the WA to legalize

Noting that many, if not most, nations stand ideologically against the institution of polygamy as it:

1. Is found to be morally objectionable by many religions
2. Creates rivalries, sometimes becoming violent, between co-spouses
3. Can lead to unnoticed sexual or physical abuse between partners
4. Often results in the offspring of said individuals being left permanently psychologically imbalanced or damaged

Strongly believing that no legislation should mandate the legalization of an institution found to be fundamentally and morally wrong by a large part of this body

Firmly believing that the topic of sexual minority’s rights, however, is deserving of attention and future legislation

If memory serves, the standing interpretation is that it doesn't legalize polyamory. Regardless, however, I don't think that your (And certain other GA people's) obsession with monogamy is good grounds for a repeal, at all.

OOC: Yeah, the proposal doesn't mandate legalization of polygamy. It just means that if your nation has polygamy, you can't treat married couples or groups (or the individuals within them) differently based on gender or gender mix.

As currently written this is illegal for an Honest Mistake.

OOC: As Sep said, the same premise used in a repeal for this resolution was voted by a majority of GenSec to be illegal for honest mistake, and therefore so would this proposal.
