Is it not a benefit to enforce the legalisation of marriages between people of any sexuality and gender? GAR 35 Article 1 part a is extremely vague and easily loophole-able. Article 1 part b is almost meaningless ("All inhabitants of member states are entitled to rights secured to them in international law and the law of the nation they inhabit or in which they are currently present" really just says that ok, you have to give all your residents the rights granted in international law, but if your nation's law was 'only heterosexual people can marry' then heterosexual residents of member states are entitled to the right to marry, secured in their nation's law, and people of any other sexuality are not entitled to marry because that is the law of the nation they inhabit.) I could easily be wrong about that, but that's how I read it...

Also, Article 2 part a: "Unfair and unreasonable discrimination, on the grounds outlined in clause c) of article 1 of this resolution, in private employment, housing, education, employment benefits, compensations and access to services provided to the general public shall be prohibited by all member states" lets governments get away with just punishing offenders of this clause with a light fine, which is prevented in GAR 457 clause 3.

OOC: Not all conservatives are hard-right traditionalists. I try to be far more moderate and have actual discussions rather than shouting matches.

Elyreia remains abstained, Ambassador, because if a repeal can prove the legislation needs replacement or improvement, then we will be voting to repeal.

Not all arguments against something are merely due to being diametrically opposed to the proposition at hand. Elyreia banned discrimination based of if citizens were zōbrior, melior, qeldior, or timpor generations ago, and in the time between the rules of my grandfather Prince Kaynin and my cousin Princess Kaerys the Second, we have eliminated the sexual discrimination against males our culture was known for.

We are fully in favor of equal rights across all persons, of all types. However, if someone provides a legitimate, unbiased reason for repeal, we will repeal it, because finding a more worthwhile resolution will be more beneficial to everyone.

Repeal does not mean oppression. It just means it needs to be better, in our eyes. It is my hope that those who are for social liberalism such as I can be just as open minded to required changes for the betterment of themselves and their charges just as they hope the more conservative delegates are.

There’s a repeal proposal currently deemed legal in current proposals, whilst I think that the draft uses language that’s offensive and that repeal is flawed it at LEAST clears the bar for the rules set out.
