General Assembly Resolution #457 “defending the rights of sexual and gender minorities” (Category: Civil Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Whereas the resolution "Defending The Rights Of Sexual And Gender Minorities" is vague and was an unwise use of the power of the World Assembly;
Recognizing that the resolution provided no attempt to define the terms "sexuality" and "gender,"
Holding that the resolution was problematic in the following ways:
1. Defining a "civil marriage" as a "legally recognised union of two or more people..." and further ordering nations to "provide the same civil marriage services for individuals of all sexualities and genders." Because the resolution specifically defines marriage as including two "or more" people, and then mandates nations to provide civil marriage to everyone, it could be reasonably interpreted as to require nations to legally accept polygamy; a conclusion that the World Assembly did not intent to adopt.
2. The resolution was an unwise use of World Assembly authority to impose a single vague standard on a world made up of diverse traditions, cultures, religions, and philosophies of government. Additionally, because of the imposition of the standards in the resolution, which violate the core convictions of a significant portion of World Assembly nations, nations may defy or withdraw from the World Assembly which harms its own credibility in issues such as global security and peace.
Hereby repeals GAR#457, "Defending The Rights Of Sexual And Gender Minorities."
