Recognising the importance of space exploration for understanding our universe,

Noting that some nations are claiming large portions of planets, moons and the atmosphere,

Concerned that space exploration prices are soaring due the reasons mentioned above,

Further Concerned that some nations are unable to start a space programme due to the soaring prices,


Hereby,

1. Defines the following for the purpose of this resolution:
a) Space as any area above the height of 80Km above sea level,

2. Forbids WA nations from claiming any areas of space,

3. Demands that nations who already have areas of space claimed to unclaim them,

4. Encourages nations to establish multinational space colonies,

5. Condemns WA nations that refuse to abide but the clauses mentioned above.

Recognising the importance of space exploration for understanding our universe, WA members exist in different universes, so this clause doesn’t quote fit with existing GA canon.

Noting that some nations are claiming large portions of planets, moons and the atmosphere, Of course nations are claiming planets, they live on planets. Also, some nations have their only territory on a moon, and preventing them from claiming that is ludicrous.

Concerned that space exploration prices are soaring due the reasons mentioned above, I’m not quite sure what you mean by the price of space exploration soaring. Could you clarify this clause please?

1. Defines the following for the purpose of this resolution:
a) Space as any area above the height of 80Km above sea level, I wouldn’t really count eighty kilometres as being in space, but I can’t see any real problems with this clause.

2. Forbids WA nations from claiming any areas of space, What if a nation is on a moon? Or has a large artificial living centre in a fixed location? Surely they should have a right to claim those things?

3. Demands that nations who already have areas of space claimed to unclaim them,

4. Encourages nations to establish multinational space colonies, These space colonies wouldn’t be able to be claimed, suggesting that an enemy nation could arrive with their men and use the colony free of any restrictions.

5. Condemns WA nations that refuse to abide but the clauses mentioned above.

“To summarise, you need quite a bit of reworking to add necessary exceptions and caveats to your clauses. However, I like the base concept, and this could do well with a decent time’s worth of work.”

80km above whose sea level? The WA's member nations aren't [canonically required to be] all on one single planet...

Also the fact that, as currently written, clauses 2 & 5 are aimed specifically at "WA nations" whereas clauses 3 &4 just say "nations" makes it look as though clauses 3 &4 are aimed at all nations rather than just at WA members... which would be an illegality.

Another legality issue: you cannot condemn WA member states in GA resolutions. That's a Security Council matter, and even then condemnations can only target one nominee.
