The Vestokan Gun Reform Act is a very strict rule to help tighten gun control, and hopefully reduce the amount of shootings per year.
If this proposal passes, These following laws will be put into place.

1) To own a gun, you must not have over two crimes on your record and be over the age 0f 20, you must also own a guns license.

2) People may only own Handguns, Semi-Automatic Hunting Rifles, or Shotguns. ( muskets are ok too, but does anyone use them anymore? )

3) All gun stores will require 24/7 CCTV coverage and motion sensors in case of robbery.

4) Citizens are allowed to carry guns with them, however they must be holstered unless attacked. False-unholstering will result with a week in jail if caught.

5) If anyone attempts to commit a crime with a gun, Their guns license will be taken away from them permanently.

6) Guns are NOT allowed to be in/near the following places. ( these apply to citizens only )

A: Within several blocks of schools
B: Within a governmental building
C: Within a restaurant, or business.
D: Within another persons home ( excludes homeowners / family )

Failing to de-arm your self before entering any of the buildings above will result in a one month jail sentence.

Not bad for a first time. You were fine. However, I will note that 'my Constitution prohibits this' is a bad argument given GA 2, which states that 'Every WA Member State has the duty to carry out in good faith its obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law, including this World Assembly, and it may not invoke provisions in its constitution or its laws as an excuse for failure to perform this duty'.

Also, to the OP, you should consult with Responsibility in Transferring Arms, which

This would seem to prohibit what you want to do, unless you can establish that your regulations only affect the sale or use of firearms 'by individuals that pose a danger of performing imminent lawless action'.

OOC: Nationstates is not the real world. The real world USA might be having a bit of a gun violence problem, but a nationstates nation roleplaying as an alternate reality USA could be completely clean of this... or a desolate post nuclear wasteland where self-defense takes priority.

And on top of this, this legislation basically blanket-bans advanced firearms designs such as our own coilrifles, which are pretty much the standard civilian firearm in the Greater Siriusian Domain."
