OOC: I think the real reason for "no direct taxes" is a category problem: No categories directly impact the taxation rates. You can't change that so having resolutions that rely on their revenue coming from taxes is in fact a OOC lie because we all know that no actual taxes will be raised for the endeavor.

That's the real reason for the resolution in the first place, it places a nice cover over the pile of manure which is that while we write resolutions that mess with your nations, there is no real in game mechanism for the real costs of the actual system that wanks your stats in the first place. It's like the idea that committees are run by "gnomes" ... a convenient illusion.

Besides, nobody is going to go gaga over the idea of repealing a resolution to raise the level of taxes in their nation even if that actually doesn't happen stat wise. I would recommend suggesting that the idea of donations might lead some more powerful donations to influence committees in their day to day operations: If you want to kill a Kennite resolution, write like a Kennite.

Well, I would offer some feedback, but what's the point? One, you already submitted it. I would tell you take your time, but you seem to think that it's a sprint as opposed to a marathon. It's cool, I get it. You want to have a badge that says you wrote a resolution, but quality takes time. Don't just shoot for legal, shoot for legal with quality. Two, it is fairly likely that you will not take any feedback I offer anyway. So anything else I would have to say would just be wasted.

You're going to have one hell of an uphill fight for that one. First and foremost, this is a repeal. You have to get the repeal passed first, and the chances of success for you are thus far near zero. Second, if your repeal is successful, you would then have to create a new proposal suggesting such a tax on member states from the WA and if you thought your repeal was tough that will be far worse. Third, if you ban nations from taxing their people you are going to cause more harm than good. Social safety nets in place to help those who have fallen on hard times? Funded through taxes. Unemployment? Funded through taxes, although in some cases there exist privatized unemployment insurance. Welfare programs like affordable housing or food programs? Yep, you guessed it, funded by taxes.

Oh sure, those programs could potentially rely upon donations, but would they be enough? Eventually, those who do in fact donate will wonder why they are paying into something when their less fortunate neighbor is not and stop all together. Do what you like with your tax system, but leave the rest of us alone.
