"I would like to comment on the proposal, with the proviso that my comment is no indication in any way of my feelings towards the proposal. Your proposal states, 'DEFINES contraception, for the purposes of this resolution, as an act to prevent fertilization as a result of sexual intercourse.' In the classical understanding of the term, the prevention of post fertilization implantation is also considered 'contraception' but can be a more passionate area of the subject matter so it is a good thing this isn't in the proposal."

One could also have to realise that contraceptives are primarily objects which are used.

Neville: If you'll excuse me, Ambassador...who is it, again? Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what it is you're trying to say.

Also, the Tzorsland Ambassador makes a good point. To the other Delegations: Should we amend the definition to include the prevention of post-fertilisation implantation or should we leave it as is?

DEFINES contraception, for the purposes of this resolution, as an act to prevent fertilisation as a result of sexual intercourse,

DEFINES a contraceptive device, for the purposes of this resolution, as an item or pharmaceutical that is designed to facilitate the process of contraception,

REQUIRES member states to legalise contraception within their borders,

OOC
A woman could "prevent fertilisation as a result of sexual intercourse" by killing any man who gave signs of planning to attempt sexual intercourse with her. Guns would be a useful type of item for that purpose.
Therefore, illegal for contradiction of GA Resolution, clause 5?

I think that you need to insert the word "specifically" into the 'DEFINES' clause, probably best immediately after the word "designed".

More like "in pretty much all cases, to abortion" realistically. (we're pro-choice btw)

OOC: Murder isn't banned by the WA. Also, which resolution are you referring to?

Bears Armed wrote:I think that you need to insert the word "specifically" into the 'DEFINES' clause, probably best immediately after the word "designed".

OOC: I'm not sure how a gun is designed to facilitate contraception, but I'll make the change anyway.

OOC
It isn't designed for that purpose, but it could be used (by killing or wounding potential impregnators) for that purpose: that's the point. Modifying the text so that it applies only to items "specifically" designed for contraceptive use means that you don't accidentally extend the proposal's scope to cover firearms...

Anyway, the point is moot as I've added the word 'specifically'.

OOC:
1) That's not information Blackbourne would have known, since Blackbourne cannot read OOC comments.

2) That was more than three days ago.

You know people aren't going to challenge it until after you wasted your stamps, right? People procrastinate on finding things illegal until it looks like they are actually going to vote.

OOC: Firstly, GenSec has found this legal by unanimous decision (so far, at least), so the chances of any legality challenge being successful are rather slim.

Secondly, I don't intend on spending stamps for this proposal. I'm saving them in case a more urgent situation pops up.

Seems the issue is getting mixed feelings before hitting the ballot. Maybe, someone should take the criticisms given to bring a bipartisan agreement.
