Ambassador Jón Toft stood, and began after taking a ship of a fresh glass of akvavit...

"Prydania considers this a settled issue. We do not see why the vast majority should seek out a compromise with a fringe element. Especially when that majority supports the status quo."

"The status quo on reproductive rights and freedoms established by GA 286 is working for the vast majority of WA member states. Your attempts to paint the situation as one needing a compromise is disingenuous. The vast majority is under no obligation to 'compromise' with your fringe. We again implore you to read the writing on the wall and respect the will of the vast majority of WA nations. Accept GA 286 RF as a settled issue so we may move on."

"If you feel as if the WA's laws are not compatible with your nation's moral principals? You are welcome to leave it. But for you to suggest that the vast majority of the WA's nations have an obligation to compromise their moral principals for the sake of a fringe element is the height of arrogance."

"Further, to address the Ambassador from United Massachusetts. You have threatened a 'nasty brawl between the pro-life and pro-choice camps play out every couple months' unless we compromise our principals for this fringe element. To which I say the Kingdom of Prydania does not respond well to threats and blackmail. We hope, sincerely, that the WA doesn't either. As I see it? You can either leave the WA if its laws are not in keeping with your nation's own set of morals. Or you can consider it a settled issue and allow us to discuss matters other than abortion rights. Accept that it's a settled issue and move on, or leave."

Fairburn: You want a fight? I'll give you a fight. Neville! Harold! It's defenestratin' time!

Neville and Harold proceed to grab UM's Ambassador's limbs, Neville taking the arms and Harold taking the legs. They then proceed to carry him to an open window and throw him into the Reflecting Pool.

Fairburn: That should cool him down; he was beginning to get a bit heated. Alright, does anyone else want to start a brawl?

I can sympathize with how frustrating it is. In the words of the Ambassador from Calladan, why not try putting the cart before, I think they said, Thestral? Maybe some kind of compromise can be made if there is an idea of where it is going is laid out first. Couldn't hurt, might help. I cannot say for sure.

Incidentally, how is one repeal a month anything close to "spamming"?

Exactly. Let's just try. Please. What do pro-choicers want in a resolution like this?

What other resolution gets one repeal attempt a month? Even NAPA doesn't get that many.

OOC: Considering you necro'd a two-year old repeal for the express purpose of spamming, I don't think you want to get into that argument

National News Radio: A large-scale infrastructure project will soon be underway. During this time, for safety reasons, the island will be closed to tourists and foreign news agents. We do expect a minor loss in revenue due to this, but this will be greatly offset by both the long and short-term benefits of the infrastructure project. If your job is negatively impacted by the island closure, please send a letter or verbal message via courier to the Council so that we can add you to the list of beneficiaries of foreign aid.

Nuclear Arms Possession Act. GAR #12, maybe? Something like that.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

"If I may draw a parallel...
There has been some talk among some WA member states about repealing the resolutions that protect the right of male circumcision and introducing legislation to criminalize it. The stance of the Prydanian government is that it should remain legal on account of religious minority populations within our borders who consider it a sacred rite."

"Now if those anti-circumcision efforts were to succeed? The Kingdom of Prydania would, regrettably, leave the WA. Not in anger. Not in a splendid and absurd blaze of glory. Nor would we stay and spam the WA General Assembly week after week, month after month, year after year. We would recognize that our national laws and morals would not be in-line with the WA's, and we would part ways peacefully. Quietly. Respectfully."

"We would certainly maintain a watchful eye on the situation, to see if it changes again to the point where we feel we can rejoin. Certainly. We would not dare to think we have the right to hold a body of nations ransom in the name of our beliefs, however. And that is what is perhaps most surprising here. That the anti-choice crowd is such a small minority, but still thinks it can impose its morals on the vast majority. If GA 286 is so intolerable? Leave, because the assembled nations of this delegation have spoken in its favour. Many times over."

Speaking for the Federation, the resolutions in place meet the criteria we desire. I think a better stance would be what can you offer to move forward. I am not trying to be bull-headed, but that is where it stands at present.
