The Rezzys: 2017 Edition - Round 3

PostPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2017 9:26 am

Alright folks, welcome to round 3! The rules have changed slightly for this round. I have disabled the poll because of threats of cheating, so I will unfortunately only be counting unedited posts by WA nations in this thread. All are still welcome and encouraged to participate!

Important to note: in the wildcard round, there will be additional superlatives that you can nominate resolutions for. Upset that the WA isn't appreciating humor like it used to? There's a category for that. Disappointed that your meticulous policy wonkiness has gone unnoticed? There's a category for that. Stay tuned for the wildcard round, folks!

The contenders:

GAR#376 Pesticide Regulations
GAR#377 Repeal "Preventing Animal Abuse"
GAR#378 Digital Network Defense
GAR#379 Repeal "Nuclear Arms Protocol"
GAR#381 Repeal "Humanitarian Aid Expansion Act"
GAR#382 Environmental Warfare Act
GAR#383 Right to Sexual Privacy
GAR#384 Repeal "Foreign Patent Recognition"

Nothing sticks out in this bunch. I'm going to go with 377 and 382.

That's how we're playing? OK.

Right to Sexual Privacy (383) / Environmental Warfare Act (382)

Administrators of RexisQuexis please note the following error in GAR#381 Repeal "Humanitarian Aid Expansion:

Imperium Anglorum wrote:Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #381: Humanitarian Aid Expansion Act (Category: Health; Area of Effect: International Aid) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

This should be "...380 shall be struck out..."

Perhaps unsurprisingly #376, but wasn't sure of the other one. I guess I'll go with #383, because it defends kinky activities. :P

Just one query about the votes: I tend to pop in and out of the WA on this nation because I'm in the ERN. Since this is obviously my main, would the vote still count if I had to resign?

No worries, if I'm familiar with your main, then you can post from it.

Lot of repeals here, and half of them are for resolutions I didn't want repealed. Most of the rest don't stick out.

I vote GA#376 Pesticide Regulations and GA#378 Digital Network Defense.

I long for the day when I can vote on my own resolutions. :(

I'll vote for GA #381 and GA #384.

Mistakes were made. Thanks for the bug report. Also, the list will be updated every third resolution. We've only passed one resolution since the last one, so it'll be updated when two more are passed.

377, 381. I'm not enthused by any of the resolutions in this batch, to be honest. I think Pesticide Regulations is a bit too micro-manage-y, Digital Network Defence is pretty meh, the repeal of NAP was a fluke (and I would only vote for it if I were ridiculously vindictive), Environmental Warfare Act is pointless, Right to Sexual Privacy as something I just don't really care about, and the repeal of Foreign Patent Recognition as plainly bad. I'll shamelessly vote for mine, though I think on objective terms, rHAEA is better than rPAA, rPAA has more history.

This may be the nicest thing anyone has said about GA#378. Besides maybe SP saying he liked it. And even that's not really a compliment.

We must be talking about different resolutions. I was talking about Digital Network Defence.

Defense makes more sense.

Like spelling honor the same as manor instead of the same as sour.

Or, in a rare win for the Brits, pronouncing leisure as a rhyme for pleasure and not for seizure. "Lee-zure" just sounds awful.

Well in this case it's on record as "Digital Network Defense".

"Defence" is one of those words where I err on the side of using a C - you may have noticed I use a mixture of British and American spellings, due to not being native user of either - but I hope we're not starting to split hairs to such a degree that if someone says "Digital Network Defence", others will pretend such a resolution doesn't exist...

GAR#376 and GAR#382 will both advance to the final round with 6 votes each. But advocates of the others, despair not! The wildcard round is right around the corner.
