Guns are a far more common instrument of mass genocide, but you probably wouldn't be offended if we called it GUN, would you?

And it isn't as if gas chambers were exclusively used for genocide. They have long been used for lawful executions, and still are in three US states and probably some other countries.

Just to nip any more of this in the bud, I think we're moving on from GAS, though you'll be happy to know there's still some potential for amusing acronym play.

Is it just me, or are the Council members beginning to speak like Mods?

They've been assimilated, I tell you! The Resistance needs YOU! The revolution will not be ruled illegal!

We're hedging our bets. If you guys riot, we want to be on their good side!

Nah, in all seriousness, I, at least, don't know what the crap I can say about what's happening in the Sekrit Lair, so I'm waffling.

Shouldn't the current Secretary General be an honorary member of the Secretariat?

Wouldn't the position of "Secretary-General" imply that the SG is a member of the Secretariat? This would be nothing more then a honorary position

It was a fucking joke.

Canton Empire wrote:This would be nothing more then a honorary position

Exactly.
Which is why we're not going to do it.
It'd be completely fucking pointless.

The Secretary General is a position created for the April Fool's Day event this past year. If the SecGen were to sit on this Council, it should be after a new election where this is the intended plan for the SecGen. (And even then I'm skeptical.) The SecGen as it currently exists is basically an honorary title with no real power.

Wait, so will you still be going to the semi-bicentannual meetings for the GA Sekrit Eeleet, or does your position at the Big-Kids table preclude that now?

It would be an utter waste of time to include a position that does nothing, and it would be disastrous to include somebody who knows nothing of the GA in this kind of decision making.

I would think that this merits a promotion to the Elder Mugwump Circle at the Sekrit Eeleet meetings, Tinfect. I expect the gold and purple cape and the elk horn headdress to be dry cleaned and pressed before you present it to me. Being presented wrinkly robes at my initiation was quite a snub.

I disagree. The Secretary-General - who is Catherine Gratwick - should be an Honorary Member. And as Honorary Members have no rights or privileges, it doesn't even require any work!

'Semi-bicentannual'? Does that mean ten times a year?

No. Bicentannual is 100 times every two years, and therefore semi-bicentannual would be never in a million years.

No, bicentannual would be 200 times a year, so semi-bicentannual would be 100 times a year...

Did I just debunk my own argument?

No, see, weekly is once a week, and biweekly can mean either twice a week or once every two weeks.

Thus, if centannual is 100 times every 52 weeks, then bicentannual can mean either 50 times every 52 weeks or 100 times every 104 weeks. So then semi-bicentannual is either 25 times every 52 weeks or 50 times every 104 weeks.

Hold on there. Bicentannual means either 200 times every 52 weeks or 100 times every 104 weeks. Therefore, semi-bicentannual means either 100 times every 52 weeks or 25 times every 52 weeks (which is the exact same as 50 times every 104 weeks).

We can start electing players to judge proposals' legality when we start electing issues editors, forum moderators, and techies.

Well, I had no idea who the Secretary General was until someone mentioned it, so there should be some sort of recognition

They have a badge on their nation page. For a one-off April Fool's Day event, that seems sufficient to me.

That's only for if it is a once-off.

@Canton: The SG isn't going to get a seat on the GenSec, was debated and rejected, for fair enough reasons. Fight wars you can win, this one has been fought and lost, and going on more just creates bad blood rather than everyone moving on. Time will tell if it was the right choice, but it hasn't been time yet.

If a proposal is about to be discussed in the council, is it in the GAS-o-line?
