The marijuana limitation act

PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2018 6:11 pm
by The South Falls
Proposed By: The Allied States of GohnorreaGondor
Category: Recreational Drug Use
A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.
Decision: Outlaw
The Marijuana Limitation Act is an act that would ban any use of recreational marijuana. Marijuana will only be used for medical purposes in a controlled environment. With this act, medical marijuana centers are to be constructed. Within those centers, patients who are prescribed medical marijuana treatments will get their treatments administered.

The pros of this act are the following:
1. Reduced illegal spread of marijuana
2. Greater control of medical marijuana usage
3. Protects the environment and other bystanders from marijuana smoke
4. The number of children who steal medical marijuana from their parents will drop.
5. More jobs will be created with the construction and opening of medical marijuana centers.
6. DUIs involving marijuana usage will be reduced.

For these reasons listed above, The Marijuana Limitation Act is presented to you all.
This defeats almost every rule. Tell me specific rules that this is breaking, please.

1 is Ideological Ban, not Operative Clause (Forcing people to vote is a ban on autocracies and/or non-constitutional monarchies, among others, by forcing member nations to allow voting.) An Operative Clause violation would be the proposal having no wording that requires nations to take any action (the proposal, in effect, not *doing* anything)

Treason Act

Category: International Security

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: The Sun King and Rome

An Act to protect the Crown.

Definition:"Treason"-the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the sovereign or government.

Branding

The Cryptocurrency Proposal
A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.

Category: Free Trade

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Federated States of Heide

I propose that the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple be required to be an accepted currency in all nations. The currencies shall be equal to their market values translated to that specific countries currency. For example one bitcoin would be equal to $11,230.90 U.S. dollars. There are many reasons to support this for example.
-It is much harder to steal or forfeit cryptocurrencies
-They are a decentralized currency, meaning it uses a block-chain system which makes transactions more secure
-Transactions only take 10 minutes on average because it is a peer-to-peer system and doesn't have to be routed through a bank.
-An international currency makes trade faster, easier, and safer for the people involved

Does nothing. "I propose ..." don't count. RL references as well.

Repeal: “Crime And Punishment”
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#375

Proposed by: The Sun King and Rome

General Assembly Resolution #375 “Crime and Punishment” (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

GAR #375 violates the sovereignty and rights of an individual nation and therefore needs to be repealed.
One of the sections of this resolution states "2. Forbids member nations from issuing criminal sentences disproportionate to the crime committed"
This clearly violates a nations sovereignty as it interferes in a nations legislative ability and it restricts a nations ability to regulate their own criminal code and violates parliamentary sovereignty thereof.
Furthermore, the following sections violate the the above thereof.
"4. Forbids member nations from executing any person for misdemeanors or nonviolent crimes;

5. Forbids member nations from executing children, pregnant persons, or persons of limited mental capacity;"

These sections forbid a country from imposing certain laws and punishments on a certain type of individual such as "pregnant persons", in addition, this is an act of discrimination as it allows certain types of individuals to be subjected to capital punishment while others are immune.

Sounds like NatSov only. And this person really needs to stop spamming the submissions with ill-thought out proposals, at least 6 in the past day that I am aware of.

Personally, I would have thought their "Segregation Act" would have been enough to get them booted from the WA, given how racist and offensive it was.

It might've, if it had been reported with a GHR instead of posted here... if they withdrew the submission themselves, such as if they saw it posted here, they might not get in trouble at all.
