Illegal GA Proposals 2nd edition

Postby Frisbeeteria » Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:41 am

This thread is for posting all illegal proposals that enter the WA queue despite the best attempts of World Assembly regulars to educate them.

Several noteworthy comments:
  • This is not a place to make up horrible proposals for giggles. We have enough of those occurring naturally.
  • GenSec regularly read this thread, to take advantage of the fact that WA regulars have more time to kill than they do.
  • While WA posters' opinions should not be considered definitive rules judgments, neither should they be belittled.
  • Opinions are welcome but keep it constructive
  • When making new law, anyone can be a lawyer. (But only GenSec can be judges.)

If an illegal proposal already has its own thread elsewhere in this forum, please don't post it in this thread as well. Post your comments in the proposal's existing thread; that will bump it near enough to the top to be noticed. Joke or silly proposals can be posted in its dedicated thread.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL
ID: neo-bolshevik_island_1457132224

Free Space Exploration

A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Category: Global Disarmament

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Neo-Bolshevik Island

Description: The World Assembly,

Understanding that freedom to explore space is necessary to drive further space development,

Noting that space exploration has brought several beneficial technologies, such as global positioning system or telecommunication satellites,

Desiring greater cooperation between nations in legal, technological, and financial affairs regarding outer space development,

Noting with deep concern that currently there is no international organization governing legal affairs regarding the outer space affairs,

Taking into consideration the WA resolution #50, which called for creation of United Nations Space Consortium, which focused on establishing lunar base,

Noting with regret that the United Nations Space Consortium is only concerned about the lunar base, and does not concern itself with any issues regarding the need for other forms of space exploration,

Condemns any attempts to limit space exploration by any nation or region;

Requests that outer space and any celestial body are to be considered property of mankind, and not property of any individual, nation, or region;

Strongly condemns any attempts to militarize outer space or place weapons of mass destruction in orbit;

Calls upon all member nations and regions to grant safe passage back to homeland to all returning astronauts;

Affirms the role of astronauts as envoys representing mankind to any unknown extraterritrial foreign entity;

Authorizes the creation of World Assembly Department of Outer Space (hereby referred to as WADOS), which shall oversee any legal matter regarding space exploration;

Designates the WADOS as a platform for cooperation between nations or regions for better utilization and development of space related technology;

Hopes to ensure that outer space remains forever as property of all of mankind.

Armed Police

A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Cufrein

Description: With assaults, rape and murder becoming more and more common, and with the terror threat raised, I feel it is now appropriate for police to carry firearms. This is not borne out of any wish to see police given any unnecessary powers, I feel this would genuinely be a well-needed check against the morally-corrupt thug culture developing across the world. Gun crime is on the rise as more gang members and criminals are arming themselves with firearms to commit crimes. Sometimes unarmed police meet armed criminals on the beat which can lead to police officers being killed. I think that arming the police would be best because the police can protect the public and themselves from armed criminals without waiting around 10 minutes or so for armed response to arrive when the situation could have already escalated quickly.

World Gun Rights Act

A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws.

Category: Gun Control

Decision: Relax

Proposed by: Capit States

Description: Every person on this planet deserves the right to have a gun if they so choose. It is the natural right of a person to own property and that includes guns. Guns are not a problem in the violence. outlawing them would just raised the crime rate and fund black markets. Guns are not the issue. If we want to look at the real issue look at the mental health of people. Guns are only dangerous if used in a dangerous manor.
This bill suggests:
-No useless background checks
-No useless gun control
-Military style rifles stay legal and are buy-able
-Mandatory gun safety training to first time buyers
-No size limit on magazines

Blogpost, and I am not sure what a particularly dangerous Manor has to do with this. Or what he means by it. Is it haunted, The home of some group of Vampires, What is it?

GENERAL ASSEMBLY PROPOSAL

The Pavlonia LGBT Equality Act

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Pavlonia Islands

Description: Providing rights to all people across the NationStates world is important. This act will help people get equal rights. The following words out line why LGBT rights should be legal across all CIVIL RIGHTS FILLED COUNTRIES.

Prohibiting same-sex marriage is pure discrimination. People are allowed rights as equal citizens in any other area of life. Pornography and adultery (including “swingers”) is considered fine and ok but not two adult people who are committed to each other to marry, is not? Absolute discrimination. The nation tries to teach against bullying, but in another breath teaches people that intolerance and discrimination is ok. That sounds a bit sideways to me.

Many people believe that marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman; this is the way a traditional marriage has always been defined. This has not always been so. Historically, different cultures have defined marriage in their own ways. Even in the bible, it casually discusses harems. Having many wives is considered an abomination in today’s society but I would bet that if some who oppose gay marriage were to look into their ancestry, they would find even more “abomination” in their own history!

The realization of “marriage” has constantly been redefined through the ages. In some cultures, marrying a woman who had been previously divorced was considered an abomination. Now, we eagerly accept this as normal. Society changes as needs change. This is no different in the area of same-sex marriage.

If two people love each other and want to be married, they should be able to reap the benefits of marriage. This includes benefits such as medical insurance, inheritance, life insurance, and other protections physically and financially. Straight couples allowed to marry enjoy these benefits. Why should same-sex couples be discriminated against?
Good for the economy. Homosexual couples still want to raise children, whether they are their own biologically or adopted. There are so children in the foster care system that could use good, caring parents. It is very hard to adopt when you are a single parent. If those in the LGBT community were allowed to marry, more would be allowed to adopt, leaving less children being cared for by foster care, or governmentally provided shelters. Also, when people work together towards a common goal (life), they spend more and usually have less likelihood of needing governmental assistance. Family homes, vehicles, insurance policies, clothing, antibiotics, everything. Even the act of getting married could help financially. Weddings are expensive, and the government would obtain more funds when a couple applies for, and pays for, marriage licenses!

What other people do should not affect you! If you don’t like it, you don’t do it. Just that simple. If you don’t want children, you don’t have them. If someone else does, good for them, that is their choice and their right! If you don’t want to homeschool your children, you don’t do it. If you don’t want to worship a God, you don’t do it. Plain and simple: what other people decide to do with their lives do not have to affect you in anyway whatsoever.

I'm not entirely sure this one is illegal. It's a one-liner, but that one line is an operational clause that tells nations what to do.
