'Ah, nice to meet you! I am Cyril Parsons, our nation's Lord Ambassador. There's a pile of other titles, but it's a real mouthful', Parsons said, accompanied by an imperceptibly audible sound of eye-rolling. Parsons continues, 'Well, we have written 13 resolutions during my tenure. Though, if anything, it is politics beyond all else. However, I have heard of your nation, albeit off-handedly. We would love to learn more about your country. Though I am curious, why send a Foreign Affairs minister, with presumably broad terms of reference, to a post due a diplomat?'.

"Delighted to meet your acquaintance, Lord Ambassador," the diplomat replied with genuine, polite enthusiasm, "and congratulations on your record. I barely managed to sneak one through the proposal process, and it doesn't even have my name on it." No, the Sophistan representative spent the bulk of his time polishing other ambassador's work, attempting to elevate the institution as a whole. Judging by the list of recently-passed legislation, it had worked.

"As for your question," he continued, dodging any protracted discussion of his homeland for now, "you'd have to blame the Prime Minister. I was dispatched to the body that would eventually become the World Assembly rather shortly after our nation's founding. We were members-in-full -- none of this puppet nonsense that people seem to settle for -- and it was decided my efforts were better spent here. We're an oceanic, island people, a federation of just under two-hundred isles, atolls, islands, keys, islets, archipelagos. For all intents and purposes, our relations with the World Assembly are the sum total of our foreign relations."

"That's his philosophy, anyway," the ambassador offered, referring back again to the Prime Minster. "We have an Undersecretary for Non-Aligned Affairs, and that suffices. Generally, our preference is to conduct commerce and such with member nations -- saves on the bureaucratic hassle when everyone is already following the same rules. In any case, I like it here. And I've been here long enough that it's become Sophistan tradition."

Pink heard the name Sophista offhand, and could have sworn he'd seen it before. He glanced behind the bar, and sure enough, there it was, engraved on a pewter mug. Pink was dumbfounded. "Well. That's intriguing." He muttered to himself.

Dr. Romero snorted and said, "You ever want to ask my boss that for me, Parsons, let me know." Folding up his paper, he stood and put his shirt back on. As he buttoned it back up, he nodded at Hillaker and said, "I'm Dr. Romero, by the by. I suppose I'm in the same boat as you -- Secretary of Foreign Affairs for the Sublime Island Kingdom of Astrolinium, though here a lowly diplomat. I've authored two resolutions -- well, authored one, submitted another on behalf of an old friend who was embroiled in a complicated matter which prevented him from doing so himself, and then, of course, the one I submitted was utterly unjustly repealed with surprising contempt by the general body considering what a nice, feel-good sort of thing it was, and anyway..."

He trailed off with a shrug.

"I can't say I've heard your name before, but it seems you vastly predate my tenure here."

"Happy to meet your acquaintance, Dr. Romero. And likewise, congratulations on your authorship, even in spite of the repeal." The World Assembly had always tough and fickle, usually only capable of agreeing on the things they didn't like. A mixed record was unsurprising.

"I can't say I've heard your name before, but it seems you vastly predate my tenure here."

"No worries. I assume most people are too new to remember. As I was explaining to our colleague, my mark was slightly less indelible than launching a resolution. Though the World Assembly Funding Act owes a bit of its life to me, depending on who you ask."

As Dr. Romero finishes buttoning up his shirt, he pulls his vest back on and then shrugs on his coat after it. Finally, he extends his hand towards Hillaker.

"Well, I have to say I'm pleased to see you back among us, then. It's been weeks -- well over a month at this point -- since we've passed anything, and nearly as long since something's even made it to vote, I think. It's dire straits, I tell you, and could spell the death of the august body if not corrected soon."

Turning to Hillaker, Parsons notes, 'Tradition is certainly a thing we happen to like here in the Empire, Minister Hillaker'. However, before he can continue, his batman (an officer's military aide) calls him aside and hands him a copy of the Times, along with a telegram bearing the seal of the Privy Council. Parsons, turning back, 'I am sorry. But I believe that I have to take my leave. I have been called back to London for an anticipated emergency meeting of the Privy Council. If you need to speak to anyone in the delegation, any of our aides could direct you to Lord North'.

A veritable pitcher of deep copper beer appears in front of the exhausted ambassador, carrying the peaty, malty aroma of a Wee Heavy. It does not remain in the glass long.

Senka Fox the Second was peacefully overthrown due to her young age.

Neapolitan Cortez was Executed for corruption by the people.

The C-Consioussness remained in operation for 1000 years until the power station that kept it alive ran out of fuel.

Venezia Renard was plain and simple killed by a toaster.

Venetia Renard died at the hands of the Monolith

The Monolith was smited by God.

And now we are here.

The adverage life span of our Leaders is about 200 - 450 years. (We are farther into the Future than most of you.)
Monolith was corrupted, yes. However the C-C Was pure evil.
As for a department created for protecting the leaders.... Well... we tried that. We have a tendency to evade safety. It also takes up tax payer money. We used to spend Billions on Protecting Leaders.

You can assassinate a Counselor, sure, but there are 14 of them, they have little power anyways, and within a month they'll be replaced in the next round of elections."
