I suppose that we should ban nuclear weapons due to many citizens protesting against them and my question is why blow each over up with nukes? we should be peaceful instead!

Hi!

Firstly, write a proposal first if you wish to do so.

Secondly, I, along with many of the regulars here, advise you to read previous resolutions, and spend some time debating others' proposals before attempting to write your own. It's a very fickle business, and very difficult for a newcomer. While you're at it, have a look at the Rules.

Good luck.

Dear ambassador, this is not a proper proposal. You need a category, a strength, and, most importantly, proper clauses. You cannot just march into the WA and say "Hey ambassador dudes! Lets, like, totally ban those nuke thingies!" You need to lay out an argument in proper clauses. Each clause takes up a line and begins with a words like "believing" or "seeing as." Then you have your operative clause or clauses. In this case, it would be "Hereby bans the possession of nuclear arms." The point is, there is a formal way to write such a resolution, and you have failed to do so. Furthermore, ambassador, no one will ever support this. We superpowers enjoy possessing our nuclear deterrents, and we are not going to sign on to the arbitrary removal of them.

Why? I want to know if you can come up with a logical reason why you even support this sentimental nonsense.

Or are you one of his puppet nations?

"There already is the Nuclear Arms Possession Act. Isn't that good enough? I mean, you don't have to have nuclear weapons, but don't take them away from those that do have them, there is a whole non-WA group out there that wouldn't have to follow that and it would endanger a lot of nations. And if you are worried about the 'bad' effects of nuclear there is the Nuclear Disaster Response Act and Nuclear Waste Safety Act. Other resolutions on this got repealed too, like the Nuclear Testing Safety resolution. Given the general attitude around here already something like that would be very hard to get through since you want to do more than what any of those previous resolutions have done.."

I would suggest you pull the Repealinator™ and get busy then. You are going to need to repeal three resolutions (two of them being authored by me) to do that.

Best of luck. 8)

If you wanted to do it, this is how you would do it. Note, however, that you will be removed from the World Assembly should you plagiarise any material from any other player. However, it is illegal due to contradiction of previous legislation — 10 GA: NAPA. I stand opposed to any ban on nuclear weapons because it feel that it should be outside the remit and power of the World Assembly from implementing such an edict. However, this is how you would do it, if it were legal.

Believing that the use of nuclear weapons is immoral due to destructive effects on populations and environments,

Holding that legislation to prevent states from having the ability to end all life on a planet is necessary and proper for the defence and protection of civilians around the world,

The World Assembly hereby:

  1. Bans the possession and use of nuclear weapons by any member state;

  2. Requires that all member states refrain from the development or proliferation of such weapons;

  3. Demands that all member states give up such weapons immediately and to disassemble them under the supervision of the international body politic.

If you want our nukes, the only way you'll get them is in the heart of your largest city.

OOC: Are you only posting on threads to get your post count up or what? This thread was already pretty dead, and I'd really rather not have to go to moderation to ask them to lock every recently deceased thread here.

You know, I hadn't realized that the thread was dead, and I'm sorry to have stirred things up again with a fairly personal attack. I shall cease and desist, and again, sorry for posting in a dead thread. I'll try to avoid it in the future.
